Have any of you gott
[2022-09-28 03:09:14 PM] : Have any of you gotten a refund request based on the customer changing their mind? Someone said they bought Ruby on Mac, but then realized they had already fixed the issue. Out of 744 customers, this is only the 4th refund request, and I've been able to save 2 of them. Should I try to fight it or just give them the refund?

[2022-09-28 03:22:01 PM] : i tend to lean toward giving refunds by default if anyone asks. The only ones i’ve tried to save have been a few people who had a problem with Recut where I’d say “Sorry that’s not working right. If you’re able to send a sample file I can try to reproduce it and get a fix out, or if not, I’m happy to provide a refund.”
[2022-09-28 03:29:03 PM] : for most one off products, I explicitly say refunds with no questions asked, and just do it automatically

[2022-09-28 04:42:16 PM] : I once bought something (pricey) and "changed my mind" (due to life circumstances), asked for a refund, but was told no (was just past the 30-day period). I hadn't used any of the thing. I have not purchased anything from them ever again.
[2022-09-28 04:42:41 PM] : I promised myself I'd always refund first, ask questions later.
[2022-09-28 04:43:25 PM] : I have even offered refunds to people who haven't asked, but perhaps aren't as happy as I'd like. (They haven't taken the offer.)
[2022-09-28 05:09:55 PM] : Thanks all! This is very helpful. dceddia The 2 that I saved was the same thing. They thought Ruby on Mac didn't work but I walked them through it and they were happy.
[2022-09-28 05:14:17 PM] : I just gave them the refund by the way.
[2022-09-29 07:03:55 AM] : I refund instantly, the peace that comes from doing so is worth more to me than what was paid.

I’ve had one refund so far. They bought the ebook, read it, said they already knew everything in it (even though a very detailed TOC is listed on the sales page) and wanted a refund. Gave it to them immediately and moved on.
I’m sure there are exceptions, but the way I looked at it was if I didn’t refund them they’ll be an unhappy customer telling anyone who’d listen (including me). Refunding them was a cheap way to remove that pain from my life. In this case, it worked.
