i have kind of an in

[2022-10-25 09:33:21 AM] : i have kind of an interesting update on my end. i started a new job last week, which i seem to have gotten based on the reputation i’ve built with my blog, podcast, talks, etc. i was hired specifically to help with their testing practices (at least for starters). i found that once i was in, i was given deference on testing matters again due to the reputation i’ve built. and then once i got started working, i found it quite easy to identify and fix some of their testing problems and make a material impact in a short amount of time. this experience is prompting some ideas for me. this job is a FT job but maybe at some point in the future i can go down the path of being a rails testing consultant, kind of like how nate berkopec is a rails performance consultant. prior to this job i only had a vague idea of what such a consultant might do, but the work i’m doing at this job is giving me a clearer idea of what kinds of testing problems might be patterns in the industry. anyway, just wanted to share that update. i had had an assumption that my 30x500 work could at some point help me get a job, and it did!

[2022-10-25 09:33:58 AM] : i should mention btw that i interviewed at almost 20 places and most of them did NOT care about my 30x500 work. but when it finally helped, it really helped [2022-10-25 11:41:47 AM] : that’s awesome! along the lines of being a testing consultant i could see notes on this process making for some great ebombs

[2022-10-25 11:43:00 AM] : imo the “from the trenches” tech talks and articles are always super interesting because it’s so rare to see real-world stuff, and i think they do a good job of positioning the writer as an expert too [2022-10-25 02:19:57 PM] : totally agreed [2022-10-25 02:46:47 PM] : Congrats on the new job, Jason! :tada: [2022-10-25 04:10:56 PM] : thanks!! [2022-10-26 03:33:43 AM] : Congrats! That's so cool Jason! :tada: [2022-10-26 04:24:13 AM] : Congrats! I think your daily work can be a great source of inspiration for ebombs so you can leverage that! [2022-10-26 06:35:37 AM] : definitely [2022-10-26 06:35:44 AM] : and thanks! [2022-10-28 07:37:07 AM] : I could see this evolving into a productised service where you fly in, get the testing process set up and train the in-house coders to do testing. Every few months you review/audit. [2022-10-28 08:40:58 AM] : yes
