[2023-04-16 01:31:48 PM] : another update is that i’ve decided to do something that i bet very few 30x500 students have done before, which is to start a print newsletter. i put out the offer for the newsletter this morning and so far about 50 people have signed up. my main motivation for doing this is because i’ve had some good success this year in getting some consulting work and i want to keep my foot to the floor and get as much consulting work as possible. i figure that a print newsletter a) is more likely to be read (and read closely) than an email newsletter since there’s very little competition in people’s physical mailboxes, b) is more intimate than an email, and c) can be a little more freewheeling content-wise because there’s no unsubscribe button. i think all these advantages add up to it being a good way to demonstrate to my audience that i can be valuable to them in a consulting capacity, and i think it’s also a good way to invite people to buy my consulting services. time will tell of course. i just ordered a laser printer, stamps, envelopes, etc. on amazon and my first edition is scheduled to go out later this month.

I started out printing and sending newsletters back in the 1980s (the days of Ventura Publisher), so it's funny to me to see it return. Looking forward to seeing the reactions and results!
