Hey gang!So I've b

[2023-04-22 03:48:18 AM] : Hey gang! So I've been at this for a while, ebombing (somewhat) consistently, and sharing on LinkedIn, twitter and reddit. I've got a few daily visitors with the odd day now being 0 visitors, but most days I have some. Far more progress than I hoped for really. However, my newsletter subscribers remain a fat solid zero. I can't really figure out why. I have heard before that developers are notoriously hard to get to sign up to newsletters, as they are more likely to protect their inbox... But then again, I'm a developer myself and I know there are plenty in here with successful lists. One thing I could think of is that I'm not offering any freebie with my newsletter signup - yet - except saying "hey want more of this awesome content?" but that doesnt seem to track. Does this usually take a while? I was honestly expecting my first subscriber not too long after I started sharing ebombs but that hasnt happened yet  https://mgregersen.dk/

[2023-04-22 03:56:13 AM] : Do you know how many people are actually reading your e-bombs? The easiest answer would be there’s just not enough traffic past your newsletter form [2023-04-22 04:00:23 AM] : link your website? [2023-04-22 04:00:49 AM] : I’ve had some big twitter accounts retweet some of my posts which definitely helped with :eyes: Over 3 months i organically got 20 subs from having a form at the bottom of every page on my website, and then 10 more recently after officially announcing the newsletter and pinning it to my twitter [2023-04-22 04:01:31 AM] : That seems like a reasonable guess, thanks Jacob Paris. It seems upon inspection that a lot of my visits are repeat users. I have a total of only 30 different users visiting the page, with about as many ebomb reads. Thanks for making me dive in :+1: Shavin updated the post to include it  [2023-04-22 04:02:18 AM] : That sounds great. I don't have a big twitter following to start with so it's something I'm slowly building as well. And honestly twitter doesn't hold my interest all that much, so spending the bulk of my sharing on reddit and linkedin [2023-04-22 04:04:24 AM] : I share my posts on twitter and in the Remix Discord, where they’re most relevant. That’s my biggest watering hole [2023-04-22 04:05:02 AM] : Interesting! Remix, as in the JS framework? :eyes: Or are we in completely different industries and Remix is something entirely different? :joy: [2023-04-22 04:05:11 AM] : Yes the js framework [2023-04-22 04:05:30 AM] : This is a typical ebomb for me https://twitter.com/jacobmparis/status/1645090848286048259?s=46&t=9QWqc33eA_iECT8wUUL0VA [2023-04-22 04:06:08 AM] : Never knew there was such a discord, could you share a link? :slightly_smiling_face: I have been struggling to find good watering holes for my audience "typescript developers", so expanding my search to include a lot more js watering holes and then search for typescript specific questions instead. [2023-04-22 04:08:13 AM] : dm’d the discord link [2023-04-22 04:08:49 AM] : There are discords for basically every popular framework and library [2023-04-22 04:09:26 AM] : And always filled with tons of regulars so it’s easy to be recognized as someone helpful if you’re in there helping [2023-04-22 04:09:57 AM] : And more friendly to sharing articles if they solve problems (Reddit always yells at me when I do that) [2023-04-22 04:13:05 AM] : Yep, I would imagine! I have had some success with reddit in the past, but that was years ago and I have the same feeling that the community is (much) more averse to self-promotion now [2023-04-22 04:13:09 AM] : And thank you! [2023-04-22 04:13:38 AM] : The closer you can share ebombs to your watering holes the better, that’s where you already know they have the pain! [2023-04-22 04:14:59 AM] : And tbh I think twitter is vastly overrated as a distribution mechanism. I follow both Amy and Alex and didn’t see any of their posts about LaunchFtw until afterward [2023-04-22 04:15:35 AM] : Thats nice to hear, but I also know that developers are (very) averse to using LI so probably Twitter is slightly better for my audience  [2023-04-22 04:21:42 AM] : hey martin, one suggestion from me could be improving your newsletter sign up at the bottom of each ebomb. Make it less generic and more specific on the value you’ll deliver. After that maybe try moving to a lead magnet. [File hidden by Slack limit] [2023-04-22 09:32:08 AM] : Thanks Shavin! Yes I am already brainstorming things I could provide as a lead magnet, so thanks for the tips! Good idea making the value a bit more precise [2023-04-22 10:21:28 AM] : tons of great advice here - I especially agree with: • improving your signup CTA • focusing more on watering hole participation to send more qualified visits. Part 4 of this cheat sheet, specifically! https://courses.30x500.com/courses/26522/lectures/44004997 [2023-04-22 12:17:47 PM] : just another +1 on improving the CTA! and while you’re brainstorming lead magnet ideas, give some thought to what a reader might want next. I’ve seen the best conversion rates when the lead magnet is very well-aligned with the post (like: reading a beginner tutorial about React -> sign up for a 5-day React email course). [2023-04-23 03:07:06 AM] : Thank you both! Thats an excellent tip dceddia, I'll consider that, should also make the idea generation flow a bit more  [2023-04-24 08:10:30 AM] : Hey Martin Aarhus Gregersen. Just catching up but looks like you've tweaked your CTA as it look different to what is in this thread? Not sure if its possible but it might be worth adding a little about you and a sign up form on your home page? I'm looking on a pc (see image) and it looks like you've plenty of space. Whilst you are considering content upgrades etc, one thing I tried which seemed to have worked a little is to give my newsletter a name. It then becomes its own product. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll get people signing up soon. [File hidden by Slack limit] [2023-04-24 08:16:09 AM] : Hey Samir! Thanks for chiming in  Yes I've actually tweaked the form and improved the CTA already. It's not tailored to the content (at least not uniquely to each piece of content), however. I think its a great idea to make more use of the screen real estate and add the ideas you mention! I really like productizing the newsletter! Thanks for chiming in, I'll add these on my todo  [2023-04-24 08:27:30 AM] : My pleasure. Looks like its just a matter of time for you and am sure these small tweaks will get the ball rolling. If you want to have nosey at my site its linked below - others here are better (!) but at least you can see some ideas. https://www.yourdatadriven.com/ And this is my most successful posts with a content upgrade per what has been suggested. https://www.yourdatadriven.com/how-to-set-your-racing-car-tyre-pressures-perfectly-every-time/
