Hey, I wonder how ot
[2023-05-07 01:38:02 PM] : Hey, I wonder how other people from EU approach mailing lists - I mean, GDPR stuff, etc. How seriously do you treat this? In theory, in my country if I get even just one customer email, I should register myself as data controller, etc. That in itself is not that a big deal I guess, but I really would like to avoid registering a business before I have any business.
How do you approach it?

[2023-05-07 11:12:44 PM] : I personally don’t worry about it. I think my biz is way too small for any gov agency to care. I focus my energy towards other challenges at this scale and will deal with that later (if ever :slightly_smiling_face:)
[2023-05-07 11:17:41 PM] : With MailChimp I used to put my home address. Now with CK I use the physical email address they provide
[2023-05-08 12:45:02 AM] : According to Dutch implementation of GDPR you dont need to register if you employ less than 250 people
[2023-05-08 12:45:27 AM] : I don't stress about it at all
[2023-05-08 04:39:36 AM] : thanks for sharing your thoughts Maxim and Oscar!
[2023-05-08 05:59:09 AM] : Grzegorz Gołda Do you need to register your company with the supervisory authority? In general, you only need to notify the contact details of the DPO (if one is appointed) to the supervisory authority.
Oscar Baruffa Isn’t the 250 employee number related to whether you need to keep a Register of processing activities?
[2023-05-08 06:47:59 AM] : just read more about the topic and seems that I don't need to for a simple newsletter like in our case
[2023-05-08 06:48:36 AM] : legal stuff is extremely hard though
[2023-05-08 06:49:00 AM] : and my country is not the best one for any kind of entrepreneurship
[2023-05-08 06:49:13 AM] : but I'll try to worry about it later
[2023-05-08 06:49:20 AM] : I work as a legal counsel and data protection officer but I’m not versed in Polish laws (you’re Polish, right?)
[2023-05-08 06:49:27 AM] : yeah
[2023-05-08 06:49:44 AM] : it's not just laws actually
[2023-05-08 06:49:48 AM] : but also Zeitgeist
[2023-05-08 06:49:59 AM] : the current government is not the greatest :)
[2023-05-08 06:50:34 AM] : Ah alright
[2023-05-08 06:50:42 AM] : anyway, thanks for showing me the right keywords
[2023-05-08 06:51:30 AM] : No problems. As long as you’re doing little processing, you shouldn’t have to register anything to your supervisory authoroty
[2023-05-08 06:51:52 AM] : at least according to GDPR, but there might be some special Polish law that requires it
[2023-05-08 06:51:59 AM] : I still need to be "wipeout ready", right?
[2023-05-08 06:52:13 AM] : what do you mean with wipeout ready?
[2023-05-08 06:52:41 AM] : in case someone asks to remove their data I need to comply
[2023-05-08 06:52:48 AM] : ah yeah
[2023-05-08 06:53:24 AM] : and rectify inaccurate personal data
[2023-05-08 06:53:46 AM] : got it, thanks
[2023-05-08 06:53:49 AM] : no problem
[2023-05-08 11:42:04 AM] : Carl Gudmundsson ah yes I think you're right
