[2023-05-08 08:51:29 AM] : Am I thinking ahead here or did anyone else also stress about picking an audience that you belong to or know about that is saturated?

[2023-05-08 09:24:10 AM] : Why do you think this particular audience is saturated? [2023-05-08 09:24:52 AM] : There are so many people targetting this audience..heck, it is even used in the example. [2023-05-08 09:25:59 AM] : freelancers? [2023-05-08 09:26:06 AM] : Correct. [2023-05-08 09:29:56 AM] : Not sure where you live, but I live in Cambridge, MA in the US, near Harvard Square. Dunkin Donuts is the regional coffee/donut chain store of choice, and there are four within easy walking distance. This is fine, apparently, because lots of people live within walking distance. [2023-05-08 09:32:25 AM] : Googling suggests 70 million freelancers in the US, I suspect a lot of that is about labor law definition, not common usage, but even if it's 1 million that's a lot of people. If you're not limited to the US... there's more. [2023-05-08 09:35:05 AM] : So if you want to decide if it's saturated you need to figure out number of vendors that could serve 1 million customers, and then figure out how many vendors there are. [2023-05-08 09:36:10 AM] : Great example on Dunkin Donut lol. [2023-05-08 09:37:45 AM] : I think in the case of 30x500, I may be thinking incorrectly because step 1 is the audience and step 2 is finding the problems within the audience. I think I am thinking of step 2. [2023-05-08 10:18:34 AM] : You will probably end up narrowing down to a smaller segment of freelancers over time. Maybe freelance developers or graphic designers Traction will tell you which direction to move. It's ok to have a broader audience at the start. The skills you develop here will help you even if you end up changing audiences entirely and need to start over. [2023-05-09 03:45:01 AM] : When I hear folks talk about competition and a saturated market I think of all the water brands at the grocery store [File hidden by Slack limit]
