Hey folks,I'm stru

moving at. Rise & repeat. This is one variable we can all reasonably control which is why I focus so much on this when building a side hustle." I thought this was great advice, especially as seeing our lives as a single integrated system. But I am looking for something more concrete or "crisp" in 30x500 language to how I can proceed. Anyone got any pointers?

[2023-05-13 07:19:21 PM] : I dedicate the best hours of my day (where my performance is best) to my own business before starting my full time work (normally 7 to 9am) [2023-05-13 07:20:53 PM] : if I manage to work on it after work too that's great, but not expecting it to happen [2023-05-14 12:52:02 AM] : In those 2 hours are you writing? or is it a mixed effort of things? [2023-05-14 01:22:22 AM] : I do the same (use the best hours of the day) for my projects. It took a while to get used to it. But when you want to make progress it is needed. [2023-05-14 08:38:42 AM] : either writing or coding, whatever the business needs really [2023-05-14 10:12:53 AM] : Thanks Max Rozen and Chris V i'll try it out [2023-05-15 03:19:02 AM] : lol. i've also started doing 30x500 in the morning, before job stuff. and it seems to be working. just 1 hour for me though. [2023-05-15 03:20:32 AM] : i'm one of the guys who came back after 2 years. personally i find that things work out better when i do things that i feel the need for at the moment. so taking a few years off was not a problem as i didn't have the right pieces in place yet. i read from your post that you WANT to keep doing this, so the question really is is it a priority now or would you like to rather pause for a year or two? [2023-05-15 03:21:45 AM] : of course if you keep stacking the bricks success will come, but in the bigger picture if you really like your job then what's the problem? maybe focusing in on that makes a lot of sense for your career even if you do rage quit at one point? [2023-05-15 06:19:24 PM] : For me, it had to be something I felt excited to do in my spare time. No amount of planning could get over something that felt like more work. The other thing I did early on was negotiate more time instead of more money when I was up for a raise. This gave me a 4-day workweek and then I could use the extra day towards my own business. Talked about that more here under #4: https://www.marissagoldberg.com/essays/xu17gky1aurotjfnpiyll0faoku72c Also, think less in terms of time and more in terms of energy. One hour in high energy mode is going to do a lot more for you than one hour of low energy mode. How do you make sure your business work is scheduled around your high energy zones? [2023-05-16 12:28:38 AM] : krister viirsaar ive been in and out of jobs that I really like. At this point, I only pick projects that resonate with my values. But I still don't feel comfortable that I don't have a variable upside in terms of income and also the fact that I don't want to be fragile to what the business does and how that impacts my future. Hence why I want to do it now. I hope this makes sense. [2023-05-16 12:30:00 AM] : Marissa Goldberg thanks for linking the article. I will take a read! My thinking is quite aligned with what you've stated. I think my energy management is quite terrible at the moment  [2023-05-18 10:23:30 AM] : great thread here! big +1 to Marissa Goldberg's advice on energy management over time management. Over the years I've learned to "energy surf" and align my work with my energy, which gives me a LOT more control over how much and what I can get done with however much time I have. only other thing I'll remind you of is that you don't need to "restart" 30x500. lots of people do, and you can....but I generally advise against it unless there's a REALLY good reason. more commonly, I suggest people do a genuine assessment of the assets they have, and build on them. that doesn't always mean picking up exactly where you left off, but it's often MUCH better than starting over from scratch. [2023-05-18 08:57:14 PM] : Thanks for the helpful comment alex, i don't want to restart it. Right now, I'm just doing watering hole participation. It's still driving a steady list of sign ups which is awesome. What exactly do you mean by assets in this context? [2023-05-18 09:09:51 PM] : good! what do you think I might be referring to when i say assets? [2023-05-20 01:19:07 AM] : e-bombs, safari notes, any existing published materials? [2023-05-20 11:21:08 AM] : keep going! what else, and also, what do those things represent? why are they valuable? [2023-05-20 02:16:01 PM] : In terms of what it represents imo it's progress. All the effort was paying off and the 30x500 system actually worked and I was getting closer to being more self sufficient. [2023-05-20 03:39:35 PM] : assets can be anything where doing work once earns you something in the future. so that includes: • everything you've created so far, absolutely • reputation and trust that you've earned from participating in watering holes • your understanding of the audience AND the process that you've applied so far likely more! [2023-05-21 06:40:03 AM] : This is a good insight Alex. I forget that all my assets are working even though I’m not. [2023-05-21 10:32:51 AM] : yup, that's the entire reason this work is different!
