Has anyone found way
[2023-07-17 03:56:36 AM] : Has anyone found ways for themselves to kick procrastination in the butt? Whenever I sit down to write a landing page or an article, every part of my body wants to avoid this work. So much different from programming where I just get into flow and forget about time. How can I achieve the same with writing (and other tasks)? Is it even possible? I know procrastination is avoiding a negative feeling/emotion and I haven’t exactly figured out for myself yet what that is and how to deal with it…

For example, I found that I didn't like writing blog posts but I could (and do!) write novels back to people who email me for advice. Why I don't know! But perhaps its because the audience (of 1) and the pain (their question) is so crispy that I find it easier to write about. What I've lately been doing is trying to turn these emails into blog posts - not really over thinking them too much but just expanding out the text so its a suitable format for an article. The other thing I've found that helps is kind of just starting - hacking in other words - and then working it out as I go a long. Rather than planning and strategising and procrastinating about what it needs to look like before I start. This is quite in efficient but it has helped me.

I find it also difficult to write about emotions and feelings. So I often struggle with the Pain part of an ebomb or landing page.
Instructional writing (how to, tutorials) is easiest I find. Perhaps because there’s a right answer (like in programming) and therefore you know when you’re done. Writing thoughts (essays, opinions, etc.) is hardest because there’s no clear picture of what done looks like.
