i can see the visito
[2023-07-31 03:40:38 AM] : i can see the visitors coming in more and more, but still 0 subscribers :disappointed: i think i have to make my signup form more pop-out and promise a value offer for the first email (as per suggestions from another thread here). not exactly motivating though. such a slow process. i mean better than nothing, like what i usually had with my products, but definitely getting to be more of a challenge to keep this up. [2023-07-31 08:00:24 AM] : However: number of visitors will keep growing if you don't stop. And growing. And growing. So maybe focus on that number for now, and then once you have a bunch of visitors it might be easier to play around with different signup form variations and get meaningful results.
[2023-07-31 08:00:43 AM] : Okay, makes sense
[2023-07-31 08:00:57 AM] : I think i need a goal of some kind to keep me straight
[2023-07-31 08:01:19 AM] : So how many visitors a month do you think is enough to start getting any signups?
[2023-07-31 08:03:59 AM] : it depends how well the signup form works. e.g. 1% signup rate you'd get about 1 person signing up for every 100 visitors
[2023-07-31 08:04:35 AM] : but ... as you get better at writing you'll probably get higher signup rate with the same form
[2023-07-31 08:04:41 AM] : so the % probably isn't static
[2023-07-31 08:06:20 AM] : Hmm.
[2023-07-31 08:07:50 AM] : writing more helpful content gives you practice, so you get better at it. and helps more people. and makes it more likely people sign up because they see you haves lots of content
[2023-07-31 08:08:02 AM] : and finally the response to articles is... very inconsistent
[2023-07-31 08:08:15 AM] : Dunno. I think I'll spend a little bit of time on the website itself. But yeah i agree 1% is a fine goal at the beginning. Just that then i should have one signup i think :)
[2023-07-31 08:08:30 AM] : some will be much popular than others, and it's hard to predict which
[2023-07-31 08:08:50 AM] : so a lot of it is you just need to keep writing more ebombs
[2023-07-31 08:09:03 AM] : I don't really understand how I'm supposed to get better at helping people without any feedback.. i mean if nobody comments or signs up.. dunno, no feedback loop
[2023-07-31 08:09:29 AM] : you have a feedback loop of:
1. # of visitors
2. average time on site
[2023-07-31 08:10:06 AM] : 3. improving your writing (or whatever medium you're using) through practice
[2023-07-31 08:10:06 AM] : Okay, yeah. True. I can imagine finding out which posts do better
[2023-07-31 08:12:00 AM] : it's very easy to underestimate the third one but it's very impactful in the long term
[2023-07-31 08:12:22 AM] : Okay all in all what you say makes sense. I'll try to keep myself from spending time on the website too much :D
[2023-07-31 08:13:13 AM] : (I am still bad at making sign up forms. but have gotten good at writing useful content, so it balances out somewhat)
[2023-07-31 08:30:39 AM] : Okay i just made my form more colorful, that is all. Thanks for saving my time :D
[2023-07-31 08:43:24 AM] : Lol found out Ghost has a feature to add signup between the text. Not intrusive, but should work as effectively.
[2023-07-31 11:42:13 AM] : > I don't really understand how I'm supposed to get better at helping people without any feedback..
A big part of ebombs is distributing them into the watering holes where you found the pains in the first place
[2023-07-31 11:43:26 AM] : Very little of my feedback comes from people reaching out to me about an article, it comes from a conversation I'm having in discord/twitter/etc about a solution, and then I can update the ebomb if necessary
