I would love feedbac

[2023-07-31 08:30:54 AM] : I would love feedback on something that I'm chewing on :slightly_smilingface: I'm here now: • Focused my twitter profile (http://twitter.com/thomanil) to fit the audience + content I'm focusing on in 30x500, posting daily micro (nano?) ebombs there. 500+ followers only. • Posting weekly eBombs on my newsletter & blog • I'm just a month or so in of posting content to those two channels I'm considering adding Linkedin (as an additonal channel to write regular stuff in + announce the weekly newsletter ebombs) 1. Does it make sense to add that into the mix already, or is it better to focus on just Twitter+newsletter for a while first? 2. Would you use your existing linkedin account, thus making it "dual purpose"? Or start a new linkedin alt where I have my "teach people freelancing/consulting" hat on? (I ask this because I'm still a consultant/contractor myself, thus reluctant to make my main linkedin profile "dual class/purpose"_ :crossedswords: :elf: )_

[2023-07-31 02:54:35 PM] : there isn't a single right answer here, in part because the real question is where can you reliably reach people looking for help, that you're able to help? [2023-07-31 02:56:06 PM] : what watering holes are you using for Safari? [2023-07-31 02:56:53 PM] : A few reddit subs primarily, some forums [2023-07-31 02:58:42 PM] : https://www.reddit.com/r/freelance/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Freelancers/ https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/ https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/ +The freecodecamp forums and well, twitter :slightly_smiling_face: [2023-07-31 03:00:45 PM] : great! just wanted to make sure you were actually focused on those watering holes before adding another algorithmic distribution channel [2023-07-31 03:01:53 PM] : Yeah, was just thinking of where/how broadly I should talk/be/broadcast as "mr-helping-this-audience-guy" :slightly_smiling_face: [2023-07-31 03:03:16 PM] : got it! can't think of a reason to not try LinkedIn, then. [2023-07-31 03:04:03 PM] : as far as a specific profile vs you existing one, I think LinkedIn has a way to create a specific "social" mode that's specifically for public participation. but I'm honestly not too familiar with the upsides or limitations. [2023-07-31 03:05:52 PM] : i get the desire to keep the accounts "separate" but the tradeoff also becomes throwing away whatever network you do have...even if they're not your "target" they may be connected to people who are, and they already know/trust you to some degree which is a valuable advantage. [2023-07-31 03:07:41 PM] : might be good to do some research on how folks are setting up profiles for this sort of thing, but otherwise, I'd focus on exactly what you said: show up and be helpful in the comments! [2023-07-31 03:09:03 PM] : Ah: "Creator mode" https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a522537/creator-mode?lang=en I had no idea about this :slightly_smiling_face: Thx for the hint And yeah starting from scratch on a separate account is maybe hamstringing myself, I think I'm perhaps just a bit anxious and overthinking things here... Thanks for your input Alex! [2023-07-31 03:16:59 PM] : I've been doing the linkedin stuff for a while and it has been great for reaching people whose pain I resonate with. By far 'your voice' is what people listen to. Just like with a lot of companies twitter profiles, company profiles or business profiles tend to be ignored greatly. But as an individual, showing up and putting out ebombs a few times a week is where people really start following and connecting with you. When I was deep into trying to figure out what behavior was most rewarded on LinkedIn, it was the combination of posting 2-3 times per week at regular times and then commenting 2-3 times per day. Commenting is 'seen' as contributing and the more you contribute the more the algo boosts your stuff. And setting aside 30min - an hour a day tends to be the happy path of getting good interaction with an audience and then keeping your sanity  [2023-07-31 03:17:49 PM] : Thanks for the advice, Ben! This really helps. [2023-07-31 03:19:07 PM] : And I see that I need to set some strict limits/routines for this stuff, being active on twitter alone can quickly suck me in (especially addicting when I'm able to give very specific advice and people express happiness with that) and now linkedin as well? Holy moly.. [2023-07-31 03:24:43 PM] : It is a weird balance for sure. I could spend my whole day answering questions haha But it is a potential huge void. I have an app blocker than blocks the social medias after a specific time And i generally have come to the conclusion that if people have questions after the time I set, I'll either see them the next day or they were not really important. The nice part about it is that all the questions are usually directly from your audience to you and you can queue those up for future ebombs [2023-07-31 03:25:55 PM] : Yeahhh.. my "engage on twitter" time has swallowed up all my 30x500 time some days, eg. no safari time left. [2023-07-31 03:53:57 PM] : great tips Ben Patton! [2023-08-29 12:07:12 AM] : Ben Patton have you been applying safari techniques to use LinkedIn as a watering hole? I've been trying but find it quite challenging as LinkedIn is set up quite differently to forums. [2023-08-29 02:18:06 PM] : Oscar Baruffa it is a bit different. I kinda use LinkedIn as a mini site of sorts. So I share ‘ebombs’ on LinkedIn and then will occasionally have a CTA for signups. But I mostly use LinkedIn to increase audience, almost like curating a watering hole, and then drive lead them to the places I want them to be. There are some ways it comes up short but it’s pretty easy to get quick engagement and become a trusted voice with people. [2023-08-30 12:44:37 PM] : Super interesting, thank you!
