 Just a little
[2023-08-18 04:29:46 AM] :  Just a little personal story to share, maybe someone relates. :slightly_smiling_face:
This week I finished my summer vacation, I don’t have a job to go back to, I’m restarting the 30x500 course from the beginning and I’m super happy about it all. :slightly_smiling_face:
Been consulting with the same company for almost 5 years, well paid, good work life balance, team lead position. However, starting this February the new management started rapidly introducing changes that changed the way of working to one that, to put it mildly, really didn’t work for me. With a lot of the decisions increasing the bureaucratic load on me and transforming my job to one I really don’t want to do I had a bit of an f-it moment in late May.
It wasn’t really an explosive one but still: I took stock of my financial situation, my family’s current and expected expenses and concluded that I can go for a year without a job and without dipping into long term savings. More importantly, my wife and I would be comfortable with that. So late July was the last day of my consulting contract and for the first time in my career I don’t have another lined up.
The plan is to split some time between working on some personal software projects and working through 30x500. The personal projects I don’t expect great financial gain but I get a lot of personal satisfaction from them and I decided I deserve some of that now. :slightly_smiling_face:
Until this Feburary I went through 38% of part 1 of 30x500 and then stopped due to work overload. The plan is to restart to recap and I’ll also change the audience to one which I’ll now be closer to. I decided to give myself until end of the year to see some traction from this work. If it is looking promising I’ll double down on it. Worst case, if I’m progressing slowly, I’ll hunt for another gig and continue working on the side. Fingers crossed. :crossed_fingers:
If someone has tips about getting the most out of the
