great point on this

[2023-10-26 12:05:38 PM] : great point on this being a worldview thread. my suggestion: read past the "video vs text" part of the debate. there's more going on here than that.

[2023-10-29 08:48:03 PM] : I noticed:
watching 10 minutes of content that mostly isn’t relevant
1. Videos are perceived as lengthy, fluffy and besides the point. A disrespect of the viewer’s time when they want a quick solution
trying to solve a code problem without digging through video after video is getting harder
2. Hard to search through video so viewer doesn’t know whether it’s relevant and will solve the problem at hand. Has to watch first to know, which is a potential waste of time
One can choose between crappy Stack Overflow answers, a mindlessly inflated video or a thick book.
3. Folks want direct and to the point solutions delivered in an easy and quick digestable format [2023-10-30 08:55:01 AM] : well done! so what worldviews do you think are at play here? [2023-10-30 10:07:15 PM] : Worldviews aren’t my strongest suit, but I’ll give it a try. Hmm… • Information should be accessible • Time is precious/valuable • Others should be respectful of my time • Written content is superior to video • There’s no place for personality & emotions in educational content, it’s purely transactional • If it doesn’t help me solve my problem, it’s a waste of time • A good software engineer is a swift problem solver • Productivity is a measure of efficiency
