Hello. I hope this i

[2023-11-14 03:52:29 PM] : Hello. I hope this is the right channel for my words here. I feel a bit lost. I started on 30x500 about 2 years ago. At that time, I needed some money. What happened is that my 30x500 project landed me a job. I couldn’t say no. I’m super happy that it happened, but now, 2 years later, I’m not where I wanted to be. All my eggs are in one basket (hourly work), and I’m not having any passive income. My 30x500 project was focused on email marketing. The job at the agency gave me a chance to learn a lot about this field. But now I’m realizing how vast this field is. The content that I have been writing was good, but there’s no specific persona I was writing it for. Email marketing has so many different parts (designers, marketers, copywriters) that I feel like I don’t have a good sense of direction. Maybe the best way is to start watching the 30x500 course videos and see if what I did makes sense. I’m a bit unsure and would like to get some direction. Thank you

Your side quest with the job is a pretty common one :) [2023-11-15 09:21:35 AM] : Is your thinking to stay in the email space and build on the advantages of the new knowledge/experiences you’ve gained? [2023-11-15 09:47:57 AM] : Yeah, that’s my thinking. But I have doubts because I realize how vast this field is and whom I can help. For example, the part I’m knowledgeable about is email design. I could try to focus on that aspect, but I’m not sure if designers are the primary audience willing to invest in improving in this field. I think, for many designers, it’s not perceived as “artistic,” and they might be more interested in something considered “cool” instead. Most of the people who would likely be interested are email marketers and perhaps developers. I could be wrong, but the main point is that I have doubts, I guess. [2023-11-15 02:46:36 PM] : I’m a little confused - you said you’re not knowledgeable about design, so why would you focus there? [2023-11-16 07:31:51 AM] : Steve Snygin I’m curious to learn more about your project cause I’m in a similar niche (Demand Generation Marketers). Noticed also the broader topic everything was falling under was B2B Marketers and of that group subsets being marketing operations and growth marketers so I know what you mean. [2023-11-16 10:30:44 AM] : Steve Snygin I'm wondering if there was a typo in your last post, and that your expertise IS in email design (your post said you're not knowledgeable). either way, it sounds like you're falling into the trap of overthinking audience before you do Safari :slightly_smiling_face: [2023-11-16 10:33:13 AM] : alex yeah, sorry, that’s a typo. So, should I stop thinking and return to Safari? [2023-11-16 10:33:53 AM] : you're trying to answer questions from your feelings instead of the facts that you can learn from Safari. [2023-11-16 10:34:15 AM] : the fact that email marketing is a wide net is a GREAT problem to have. it means you have lots of viable options! [2023-11-16 10:34:51 AM] : it sounds like you're trying to pick the perfect one, rather than looking for what you find and narrowing things down based. [2023-11-16 10:35:23 AM] : > I think, for many designers, it’s not perceived as “artistic,” and they might be more interested in something considered “cool” instead. [2023-11-16 10:36:42 AM] : I probably would avoid selling to the audience "people who are interested in something cool" [2023-11-16 10:37:07 AM] : you might safari designers, and find people who actually care about effectiveness over coolness [2023-11-16 10:37:21 AM] : you might also find people who aren't designers, but understand that the design matters and want to learn from your expertise [2023-11-16 10:37:26 AM] : and those are just two possibilities! [2023-11-16 10:38:58 AM] : the beauty of Safari is you don't need to throw a bullseye, especially at the beginning. worry less about doing it right/perfectly and more about doing it  [2023-11-20 02:45:37 PM] : alex thank you so much for your response
