When you're working

[2023-12-12 03:54:18 PM] : When you're working with clients as a developer/consultant, is there a good way to nudge your client to do a bit more sales or marketing? I've had those conversations with clients many times before, but they often don't get very far. I think there's an opportunity to help them more if I could help them realize the importance of sales/marketing, but at the same time, it's kind of difficult to convince people to change their approach to building products and to nudge them to focus more on understanding pain and connecting with their target audience than thinking about features. Specially now after doing 30x500, it became very obvious that this product-first approach is very risky. Maybe I could offer some coaching? I know it sounds vague, but maybe you've experienced this before.

I mean, if they reached out to you for dev work, it can be hard to be perceived as something else. I guess it all depends on how the relationship started [2023-12-14 08:54:06 PM] : yeah that's a good point. Maybe offering a different kind of engagement from the start can structure the relationship in a different way.
