Clearly this is a <#

[2024-03-04 07:15:11 AM] : Clearly this is a <#C9BQQFWTC|success-stories> too but amy and alex if you - or anyone here - has any bright ideas about how I can tackle this actual audience world view as it kind of flies in the face of one of the key 30x500 principals - people share good stuff and your business grows... and note, this guy is a pro driver, and not technically in my amateur racing driver audience. Its lovely but #ffs [File hidden by Slack limit]

[2024-03-05 11:06:13 AM] : interesting! a couple of thoughts here: [2024-03-05 11:07:48 AM] : 1 - I wonder if some sharing is happening, just not in the way we often think about. it might not happen on social media, but within teams and other trusted groups where folks aren't in "direct" competition. unfair advantage type knowledge does tend to travel, just differently. [2024-03-05 11:12:22 AM] : 2 - I wonder if there are any ways for you to help your audience who thinks this way reframe it, like an ebomb or series of ebombs that helps them see the upsides of sharing, and show them other ways of creating competitive advantages? maybe even ways that sharing can improve their advantages, and the sport overall? I'd be willing to bet that such a thing would create some stir, given the conflicting worldviews, so if you do it I'd brace for the disagreement. I don't normally recommend stirring controversy for the sake of eyeballs but if done right, this could be a productive variation of it. [2024-03-05 02:01:48 PM] : Thanks Alex. Yes I suspect 1 happens but it’s such a low scale effect compared to a share to a group. The trick here is how do I make them themselves look good for sharing it? I suspect a mail shot to clubs and organisations is the way forward but they all want cash for ads! Re 2. Yes I like this. I’ve started a bit of strong opinions- for me - posts on social media and this has been more engaging. This however is another level because it completely goes against a core worldview. I like it !!! Plus, I’ve direct experience from Olympic sports where in all the conferences I’ve been too they literally say “and this is what we did to win” … it grows their sport. Other sports. Plus the competition always think “if they’re telling me this what aren’t they telling me!” … and, when I talked about this will people at the time they said it’s not what you know but what you do. The majority won’t do anything different either through ignorance, arrogance or fear. I’m writing my own eBomb right here haha [2024-03-05 02:59:24 PM] :   [2024-03-06 07:07:00 AM] : Tada. Set <#C0BBSM6AH|ebombs-away> for tomorrow: Thanks alex You should share more. It will help you. Let me explain... In #motorsports everything is secret. Your tyre pressures, your practise lap times, your data.,. everything. Teams operate like mini-black holes. Things go in but nothing comes out. The first time I went to an Olympic sports conference I was taken a back. All the worlds best teams - competing teams - were there. And they shared EVERYTHING. In the image, a guy is presenting a spreadsheet tool I built them (for a 5 figure sum!) It had some 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 sensitive info on it (I thought) and there it was, on screen for all to see: "... and, you can see we're using this tool to increase our odds of winning by..." #wow In another example, a swimming team shared research showing how optimising the turns was a missed opportunity. It seemed everyone actually swims about the same pace but there are large differences in the turns. Swim training (then) didn't really include much on turn training. I was like "And, your sharing this?!?" So, when I talked about it with people at the time, their view was this: "It's not what you know but what you 𝘥𝘰." "The majority won't do anything different, either through ignorance, arrogance or fear." Plus, people will still think: "Gosh, if they are sharing THIS, imagine what aren't they telling us...!" So the competition lives on. And how good would it feel to say, "I told you, and we STILL beat you!" haha. Their is a lot motorsports can learn from Olympic sports. Being brave enough to share what you know (and what you don't know) has to be a start. But, like the really important secret source stuff. Not press releases or sales pitches. By sharing - even some - insights, it was helping these teams grow, and grow their sport. IMHO, the team that learns the fastest will win in over the long run. And a good way to learn is to share helpful stuff and reap the benefits in return. Well, perhaps! When you watch Olympic swimming now you'll be looking for the turns. Someone will be doing it better. And they will probably win. Again: "Its not what you know, its what you do." #racing #drivers #sharing #goingfaster #olympics [2024-03-06 08:20:32 AM] : :fire: :fire: :fire: [2024-03-06 08:20:37 AM] : That's great dude
