[2024-06-05 05:16:51 PM] : ah, sorry I used to follow the PDF formula for my newsletter CTA(see screenshot with pdf) Following the audit and improve your CTA lesson, I came up with the new pitch specifying what the reader cares about and what they get by subscribing (the other screenshot) The new format seems to me to be very different from the pdf format, I wanted to know the recommended approach 1. PDF format for CTA 2. "what the reader gets? what pain does responding for the CTA solve for the reader?" format for CTA [2024-06-05 05:20:09 PM] : Got it! So I'd suggest that they're technically both PDF, on a spectrum between explicit/literal, and adapted for the context. [2024-06-05 05:21:28 PM] : All the same parts, more/less structurally rigid. Both can be effective, I'd say it's worth testing! [2024-06-05 05:23:12 PM] : In that second one, I'd try thinking about the "what the reader cares about" through that pain lens. Most folks don't wake up in the morning, slap their forehead, and go "if only I could learn the foundational concepts of data Engineering" [2024-06-05 05:25:12 PM] : ah, got it. TY :slightly_smiling_face: I did get that from sales safari, Do you recommend that the header be a pain? or dream (what could be If I didnt have to worry about knowing the foundational DE concepts) [2024-06-05 05:26:28 PM] : Pain or dream could work! [2024-06-05 05:28:04 PM] : I believe that it came from safari, but that alone doesn't make it vivid. This is a good example of when to ask "why would they be asking/saying this?" to make it more crispy [2024-06-05 05:28:31 PM] : Which can lead you to pain or dream [2024-06-05 05:29:39 PM] : In a CTA, pain or dream can both be effective for the title since the rest of your ebomb helps put them in context. [2024-06-05 05:30:45 PM] : A pain is PROBABLY going to be more resonant, but a nice crispy dream can also imply the related pain. [2024-06-05 05:32:58 PM] : That makes sense, TY for all your help Alex I'll look for the why/pain behind the header. I do have a hypothesis people don't read, but just skim, so hoping to lead with a strong pain! [2024-06-05 05:34:09 PM] : People do read when their attention is grabbed! They read a lot less or not at all if not. [2024-06-06 12:53:29 PM] : here's my re-write, I did a sales safari of another thread and finding this version to be more persuasive :crossed_fingers: Although it feels very similar to my current version. [2024-06-06 04:26:42 PM] : it's def more persuasive, I just think it's doing more work than necessary for the action they're expected to take. [2024-06-06 04:27:41 PM] : and it's a bit repetitive [2024-06-06 04:28:04 PM] : I bet you could edit this down by half or more and get the job done [2024-06-07 05:47:08 AM] : ah got it, I cut it down a bit [2024-06-07 09:51:40 AM] : Good work! [2024-06-07 09:54:22 AM] : two suggestions: • for the dream, the "imagine..." prompt is good for getting ideas on paper. how could you make that sentence more of a statement instead of a question, and have it more directly connected to the pain? • for the fix, the 4th bullet point is probably unnecessary [2024-06-07 09:55:13 AM] : i've got a version drafted, let's see how close you can get! [2024-06-07 11:50:15 AM] : ah, here's the updated one :crossed_fingers: [2024-06-07 11:50:42 AM] : :raised_hands: [2024-06-07 11:50:44 AM] : nice work! [2024-06-07 11:50:48 AM] : here's my version [2024-06-07 11:51:06 AM] : > Tired of VC-Funded, Fluff-Filled Data Content?

[2024-06-07 11:52:26 AM] : I love the way you phrased the fix! Gonna copy it :slightly_smiling_face: [2024-06-07 11:52:44 AM] :  [2024-06-07 11:52:59 AM] : TYVM I really appreciate you taking the time to help out. I can code for days, but copy is a really hard skill(for me) [2024-06-07 11:53:57 AM] : you take the feedback very well, improvement shows!
