[2024-06-22 09:11:24 AM] : Essentially, if you’re course is $150, people will actually be paying more than that in many regions due to tax. Is it better to be listing as $150 + tax, or $180 (Inc tax)
[2024-06-22 09:17:15 AM] : I mostly do the former because I have no way in software to know what price will be before they click through
[2024-06-22 09:17:49 AM] : if your audience is european and a business they can I think omit paying the VAT taxes
[2024-06-22 09:18:00 AM] : so some edge cases are complex
[2024-06-22 09:18:19 AM] : big picture my guess is it probably doesn't matter unless you're based in a legal jurisdiction that has strong opinions about how it should be displayed (if you're in US, and displaying in country that wants it to be inclusive, what are the chances they'll come and hassle you about it?)
[2024-06-22 09:21:25 AM] : Yeah fair point about it not mattering.
I've just turned it on on Teachable, and they say it improves conversion rate, but that's probably because it makes the course cheaper for participants (assuming you keep the course at $150, you're the one taking the tax hit)
[2024-06-22 09:21:40 AM] : Thanks for sharing!
[2024-06-22 09:22:46 AM] : (Here's teachables advice on it - https://teachable.com/blog/tax-inclusive-pricing-advantages#:~:text=Making%20your%20products%20tax%2Dinclusive,middle%20ground%20after%20the%20fact. )
[2024-06-22 09:27:47 AM] : oh, this is about who pays, not how you display it?
[2024-06-22 09:33:12 AM] : I think maybe yes. I’ve had it set for a few years so that the student pays (and sees a higher price than promised in checkout) but had someone ask about it this week, and now unsure what is recommended
[2024-06-22 09:33:57 AM] : I gather in the US it’s common to pay more than the sticker price, as tax isn’t included. Seems unfair though from my perspective as a European.
[2024-06-22 09:36:51 AM] : (Sorry, vagueness of the question is because the topic is new to me!)
