Is Bazzite the right pick for me?
I'm planning to switch to Linux as my main OS. I'm a computer science student and a passionate gamer. My idea is to use Linux for most tasks, while keeping Windows as a secondary boot option for things that absolutely require it (like certain online games).
I'm looking for a beginner-friendly distribution that's also compatible with gaming. That said, I'm not afraid of a challenge and I enjoy learning new things — but I don’t want something too hard to use or maintain on a daily basis.
I've heard that Bazzite is a solid choice for gaming on Linux. Would it also be a good fit for coding and general-purpose use?
For context:
- I'm installing it on a powerful desktop.
- I'm quite familiar with macOS, if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance

Bazzite - Next-gen Linux gaming, now for your workstation
Bazzite DX brings the best of Linux to your workstation, with GDX catered to game developers!
Regardless, you will have to adapt your dev workflow to use containers
yeah, bazzite dx is a good one. but first you should install the regular bazzite and then rebase to dx
is there a tutorial somewhere? 😅
it's not that hard, for now just install bazzite
I can't provide a single command, because there are different system images
Read documentation (not just this page, in general)
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rebase_guide/
but yes install regular bazzite first
Ok tyvm guys
Should i enable steam gaming mode?

this just pulls the container, not rebase to it
No, use any debian based distro for easy install and use also they have good resources for help, you do coding + gaming so it's gonna be a mess to balance both so use win for games , use linux for coding just don't switch to different operating system that you're not familiar with
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-dx-gnome:stable
