I figure I would post this. This happens sometimes when saving. I experienced this issue pre-1.0 and now again.

It can give up if the log was too big or it crashed while processing it

this is a max uobjects crash so it's very unclear what could have caused it. could be a mod not properly saving stuff or holding too many uobject references. you could try increasing your uobject count via settings but that's only a bandaid
both are uobject crashes

what are you placing in the blueprinter? is it from a mod or vanilla?
All my blueprints have various mods in them. I wouldn't be able to tell you what's causing it. I had this problem in previous saves, one with mods and the other without mods.
For the uobjects, is there a quick setting somewhere in the menu or do I need to modify some files?

Why the game crashed
You've hit the UObject limit. Unreal Engine has a large, fixed-size array to manage all UObjects at runtime (it's used for fancy things like "reference counting" and "garbage collection").
Details
This crash happens randomly, but the probability of crashing increases the longer the game has been running for. Crashes are more likely to happen when opening UIs (the UI system uses UObjects to function), especially UIs that show many-slot inventories e.g. player, storage containers (the number of allocated UObjects is proportional to the number of inventory slots). Consequently, having many additional inventory slots increases the probability of crashing.
How to fix
Consider these options:
- Install https://ficsit.app/mod/Th3UObjectCounter, which warns you when the UObject array is near full, so you can restart the game before it crashes.
- Instead of large containers/inventories, use mods that increase stack sizes like Player Stack Sizer or Stack Resizer
- Remove mods that add inventory slots and use https://ficsit.app/mod/DecreaseInventorySlot to reset your slot count to normal

Normal large containers are fine, what will affect it is if you're using mods that make them huuuuge and you're accessing their menus often, in which case that could be one of the reasons
The other big one is mods that increase your inventory size by a huge amount, especially if you have multiple of them, and access your inventory often
Either way installing the mod suggested in the message by Fred above will help you narrow down what mods are adding to your UObject count the most

I actually have stacks set to 9,999 but then I was like, Oh gee, lemme go ahead and do massive containers as well
I'm sorry to hear that, it might be possible to use a mod or advanced game settings to get back to the tier you're at
The biggest issue I have is fluid storage. The fluid storage in vanilla takes so much space

So trying to make blueprints is a pita

All of my containers are slightly (or a lot) smaller than the vanilla ones
Heavy Fluid Overhaul is also a must-have mod for me for that reason as well

That's really fair, I'm doing a big stability & performance update for all of my mods so I could add that as part of the update, as long as I can make sure it won't make people have to unlock one or both again

Depending on the mods they could also be contributing to reaching your UObject limit, as menus count
So mods that add many hundreds of items at once can make you hit that limit just scrolling through the menus, it's why I broke my mods up into multiple that add 100 - 200 items each rather than one big one that adds many hundreds
I'm thinking I might needs to start a whole new game. My game had massive corruption and I used satisfactory calculator to "wipe" the map and put everything in containers. I'm thinking that didn't help as much as I hoped it would.
I've had a similar thing happen to an old save of mine and the only fix ended up being just starting again lol so I feel your pain
If I don't unlock something that doesn't add objects to the menu, does it still count those objects even if I haven't unlocked them yet?]
I need to look into mods that will allow me to unlock all the tiers up to 5 and 6 and give me flight along with stacks of basic items, that will go a long way for me

You can copy blueprints from save to save, but that might not help you if the blueprints contain a lot of modded containers you've then removed
They have optional inputs and outputs but don't need them and produce whatever I need them to.
And you've managed to make them both functional and look mighty fine

Honestly, you could try Rob's suggestion above to temporarily increase your UObject limit so you can get into your save and update your blueprints to different containers at least, then you could copy them across to your new save
Increasing the limit might buy you enough time to replace all of the massive containers, but if not you could at least upgrade your blueprints so they're transferable
I think what I'll do is first look at the list of mods that I have right now (which is around 80), look into the ones I want to keep, then disable those, and look at my blueprints to see the damage

I feel you there, and that sounds like a good plan tbh
You will be my new best friends if you're able to split up your massive mod into different unlocks. Request: If you can add more variety of differently shaped containers with different inventory sizes, bruh, I can get rid of some of my other container mods. Like seriously, the more options and variety you give me, the more options I can use in my buildings.
I can look at both, though one update will definitely be faster than the other lol
I should be able to split up the mod into one unlock for all of the personal and industrial storage options, and another for the props, just have to do it right so that it doesn't make people have to unlock things again who want both unlocked 🙂
And I am planning new & upgraded industrial storage options as well but they'll take longer to model and test than adjusting what's already there
I used to model back in the day. I made some really sweet looking stuff that was used in video games but I can't find my content anymore nor the websites I hosted them on (mainly because I forgot what websites they were). It's been 10-15 years since I last modeled.
A similar thing happened to me, so while it felt like I was starting from scratch it ended up being much like riding a bike & it all came back to me, once I got used to all the changes since I'd last modelled
If you decide you ever want to get back into things I'm always happy to help where I can, and it's always great to have new modders to collaborate with!
Satisfactory honestly has one of the best modding communities I've ever had the privilege of being part of, an incredibly supportive and collaborative one where modders have put in the hard work to provide and update the modding environment and tools for us to all use 😄
I've tried to learn blender using that donut tutorial but I keep getting stuck when I accidentally click on something that changes the window I was looking at and I don't know how to get back. Or when an error pops up and I have no idea how to proceed. lol
That's really fair, honestly re-learning to navigate in Blender again was the trickiest hurdle to get over, but once I did the rest came back naturally
You're also getting your wish re things being in a separate unlock, and have also placed the storage things in their own build category as well which will help with menu navigation
Was able to bundle that into another major performance/stability update and minor bugfix for the mod I was already working on, and I was able to throw in another two personal storage barrels I'd already made and had ready for the update
The only caveat is that trying to back-port things so the update could work for players on 1.0 and 1.1 broke all of the storage so the update will only be able to work on 1.1 unfortunately
@DC18049 the containers only cause their problems when you open them as the player because the inventory widget uses a ton of uobjects. Placed containers should be mostly fine
I suggest trying the counter mod before ditching your save as you might be able to avoid crashes before they happen

I loaded up the game and it looks like I'm at 1.5 million out of 2.1 million
I won't be able to progress much further. I'll focus my time on blueprints then start a whole new game
You weren't kidding when you said opening the containers causes object increase. I opened/closed a large container 5 times and I went up to 1.6 million objects and quickly increasing
Does glass frames use a lot of objects?

In fact, I can't use any of the containers without it crashing
I load up my save, select one of the containers, and bam, it crashes
There is a known bug causing crashes on some items for some people, am rolling the fix for that into my update to put the containers into their own category but I was waiting on the new release of SMM/SML before I upload it so that I can test with it first to make sure the new updates of SMM & SML don't break the mod again while I'm sleeping

With other people it's only been one item that's been crashing, and a different item for each of the two people who've had the bug so far
But, it's only happening for some people with some items, so it took me a bit to get to the bottom of
Thankfully now I have, and have the fix and change to the mod all ready to go as soon as SML/SMM drops, as long as it does so before I fall asleep lol (which could be anytime tbh, it's nearly 7am here & I've yet to sleep at all)
Otherwise it'll be uploaded as soon as I wake up again, and I'll ping you as soon as it's online either way 🙂

That's really strange, I've got that version of the mod enabled in the current save where I'm testing things in game now & just checked and all of the icons and holograms look like they match the buildables from my end

I legit can't load any of the other ones, it crashes before the holograms show up
I have NFI what's causing the mis-match like that for you, but I'm going to dig into the mod in UE and see if I can find clues there so I can patch that out as well with the fix 🙂

Okies, I'll have to go through that after sleeps I think, my dyslexia gets worse the more tired I get so my actual productivity for anything other than modelling when I don't sleep, 'tis also why I keep making typos etc and have to edit messages as I go a lot.

Anytime, the worst thing is weird bugs in mods that are otherwise working for other people, or bugs that are hard to get to the bottom of in general. We modders all want people to be able to play with and enjoy all of the things we make

I'm trying to do your fluid tanks but running into the same issue
That is unsurprising considering that you’re having issues with so many of the other items & it’s an issue with some of the emissive materials for some people, due to a combination of factors.
The fix I’ve got ready will fix all of the things, if you can wait to use the items until then
But, the mod is still working for other people (depending on what other mods they have installed) so I’m leaving it where it is until I can get this fix out.
It’s ready to go aside from investigating the thumbnail issue that you’re having, as you’re the only one who’s got that bug I have to dig into your mods etc when I wake up

But for now I have to sleep, I’m sorry, even if it’s just a nap for a couple of hours then I can wake up, find and patch the thumbnail fix, make sure everything works with the new SML with no more bugs & push the patch with all of the fixes
It probs won’t help, the fix will work for all materials for anyone affected, as I mentioned earlier, without affecting anything for people not experiencing the bug

Which points to there being a mod conflict in your case, but the fix I’ve done should fix that right up

No, it’s ok, I appreciate the eagerness to help, I just managed to find the problem earlier today & patch them out already in this case, for everything apart from the thumbnail weirdness you’re having lol
Makes me wonder if anybody else has been having this issue
No one who has tested the mod for me has mentioned the thumbnail issue, and they were expressly testing for bugs like that which could’ve been overlooked. And you’re the first one to mention it here, which makes it a bit of a mystery, but not one I can’t crack after a nap lol
Once I get to the point where I can start a new game, I'll try disabling mods and see if that fixes anything

Okies, I am awake again and think I've managed to see what's causing the icon bug, created a new profile in SMM with your mods loaded to test the possible fix which I'm doing as we speak 🙂
I knew a nap would help me think of something, if this works I'm going to push the whole hotfix now and then update it again when SMM & SML update as I don't want these bugs and crashes to remain if I can patch them out 😄
And the good news is that seemed to work!
I'll package and upload this patch now, and that should fix all of the bugs everyone is getting, and make sorting through menus etc easier now that it's split up into Industrial Storage & Industrial Props, and I've added a little more optimization in there as well so every prop and storage item is as lightweight as possible
Ok so I've been foiled by Aussie internet speeds again, but I will keep trying to upload this fix. If it fails a few more times I have a couple of people who have offered to help upload larger mods as our net speeds here make it fail the validation sometimes, but they're asleep right now so I'll keep trying until someone wakes up & we'll get this fix online for everyone asap!

My SMM shows no update and now shows it as broken (which is understandable). I'm not using the experimental version by the way
That would be why. Unfortunately I’d already updated my modding environment when you reported the bug and while I tried to make it back compatible that wasn’t possible unfortunately.
So, I could only make it available for 1.1/experimental, but mods are back now on 1.1 as well, and it’ll be able to work on stable again once that’s updated to 1.1 on Tuesday 🙂

I did not manage to take a screenshot of it. It was a perfect cube, 1 input, 1 output, single row of storage
I'm doing all my blueprinting in the save that's corrupt and then once I'm done creating my blueprints, I'll start my new game. ^-^
I also have a request. Can you make a tank that has 4 connections, and one that has 6 connections; and different shaped tanks (such as a smaller sphere?) Also, can you make the footprints of some/all of the tanks smaller? Some of them are very hard to use inside a blueprinter. I can't use any of the tanks except the 400 m3 on a 8 meter high ceiling, which makes them difficult for me to use.
By the way, what I mean for the footprints is not the model of the tank but the boarder box around it - that's the thing I have an issue with. Some of them are really large! lol
The collision I can look at straight away, there might have been collision boxes that reset with the 1.1 update that I didn't pick up on bc by that point I had turned soft collision back on for everything, and may have forgotten to turn it back off when testing the mod for 1.1.
And more different sized industrial containers are in the planning/modelling stage right now so requests are more than welcome! I can't guarantee that every requested will make it into the final mod, but will endeavor to do at least a few more size and port configurations so if you have any more container requests feel free to pop them in here 😄

Hey @Muppet Burrito , I found a blueprint where the cubed storage is suppose to be and it's missing. So it looks like it's missing from your mod
Also, I noticed that the tanks don't align with the traditional height of normal pipeline. Only the smallest one does. Was that on purpose or accident?

I'm not sure that cube container was mine after searching high and low for it, I should've clicked last night that it didn't sound like one of the containers I made, but wanted to double check for you first & life stuff got completely in the way last night
Of the industrial storage containers with the inputs/outputs I only made the 7 in your photo, the three different styles of Mk1 + Mk2 & the one mega storage container
But, that doesn't mean I can't make a smaller ore cube shaped one for you 😄
BRUH, you made one more. It was IN your mod. It was the only reason I found it and used it (that didn't crash)
That was on purpose, they looked a bit silly imho with them scaled up but the pipes still at the same height, even flattening them a little just looked a bit wonky

Hey Robb, I just discovered the options for configing the mod. Not sure if that was a new thing or not BUT I love it because I can change some distance recognition, so thank you!
