Following the release of version 2.3, Distant Horizons comes with its own generator when installed on the server. See
/dh pregen
command in-game for more info.Sweet, how long you think a 6k like, across and 30k wide would take to pregen?
More specifically, when its done pregenning how are players supposed to use it, is it stored somewhere?
The server also has access to the /dh pregen start <dimension> <origin> <chunkRadius> command, useful when you want to pregen without anyone online.
I read this but, dont know if this
is how it works, will it just automatically give you the data?
Also, server sided how can I increase the speed of that pregen
Using Chunky before installing DH is fine.
Using Chunky with DH installed might lead to holes in the LOD data, and will slow down the Chunky generation.
The default DH settings will only generate LODs, not expand your world with new chunks.
The speed will depend on the hardware, resources, and configuration of your server.
You can increase the speed by adjusting the CPU preset in the server's DH configuration file.
Even if it says client? (in the servers dh config file)
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium, Lithium and C2ME(DH 2.3.0+). These mods can improve generation speed by a bit, but it will still not be fast.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)AFAIK yes, the setting affects "the local client" - which for the server will be itself
