Maxima and minima ques

So my sir directly drawed its graph and solved it. How do I do the same like whats the way to draw its graph ? Using transformation ?

For the first part draw the graph of |x| and shift it by 2 units right and a^2-9a-9 units upward. (Using graphical transformation)

i mean we don't know a how will we draw the graph we can just say it shifts up or down by whatever a^2 - 9a - 9 is this confuses me the slope of both the lines is different |x-2| + ... and 2x-3 it is non differentiable at x=2 how are we defining minima

There must be a minima at x=2 when f(x)=1, now the at x=2 the |x-2| thing becomes zero hence all we need is a^2-9a-9 to be greater than 1. Or (a-10)(a+1)>0 Hence the range. Minima meaning in the neighbourhood of 2, the functional values are higher than 2.
