Buying Citizens?
Hi there!
I'm currently starting my server network and I was thinking of using the Citizens plugin for NPCs.
As I'm not that sure about the quality of the plugin and as - as far as I was able to see - people were complaining about nearly no support on SpigotMC, I wanted to ask you guys, if it is a good plugin to get or not.
Sincerely,
Codeline

i'd recommend znpcsplus
not citizens
If you run paper - which I really hope you are - you could take a look at fancy NPCs, it's a modern alternative to citizens or NPCs
+1 to this
I actually thought of using FancyNPCs. And yeah :D I'm for sure using paper. As I'll be trying to let my server stay as up to date as possible (always newest version possible, as soon as its kinda stable), I'm asking myself how it is about FancyNPCs getting updated to newer versions. Like... how long does it take for it to get an update to 1.22 as soon as it comes out?
Is citizens so bad? Isn't Hypixel using it as well?
hypixel most definitely doesn't use the latest and current version of citizens anymore
and probably has a lot of code edits
use znpcsplus, its free, open source, and should do all that you want, while not causing your server to cry from the pain of running glorified armor stands
would you prefer it over plugins like FancyNPCS?
they probs have a custom fork, since the dev for citizens actually works at hypixel
well. that's interesting to know :D
yep
sounds interesting :D
How long does it take for it to get updated when a new minecraft (or Paper) version releases?
Eg. update to 1.21.5 took three weeks from the point the first experimental builds of the API were out
That sounds good for me
Thank you a lot
*that's more on the longer side of things, 1.21.4 took 4 days and 1.21.2/3 took about one and a half weeks
Thank you all a lot!
pretty much as soon as packet events builds come out, which is pretty quick
all your anticheat stuff also usually relies on packetevents so dont think you'll be updating without that either
Sounds great! Thanks!
