Mac M2 Performance

I am running Distant Horizons on my M2 Macbook Air, and I usually have 120fps or more when I have the mod disabled, but with it enabled I'm getting maybe 40-50. More than 50% fps drop doesnt seem normal considering how my main Pc performs.
Anything I can do to better my game's performance? The quality preset is already set to Low Impact I believe
