Whole PC lags when opening a GUI
Whenever I open any GUI in game, a chest, settings, etc, my whole pc lags up. The game is otherwise running at a steady 100fps with no drops in performance. I've allocated 18G of ram but it's only using half of that. I'm also running ~150 mods but it doesn't seem to have an affect on it, as the lag occurs when just running Sodium and Iris.
It only occurs inside a game, not on the menu screen.

turn off any settings in the video settings menu
they're all off, it's still happening
Do you have "Use No Error context" on?
no

Change reduce fps when minimized
does it help?
nah, still same problem
If not then show me your advanced GUI
or Quality GUI

I have them at the most optimised I can, I don't think it's a performance issue as my pc is still only running at 50%
Use other shaders or set the profile to low or potato
tried both of those
same issue
it happens with any shader
Even with potato?
yes
What's your PC specs? (Mine can run it really well)

idk much about hardware but the guy I bought it from said it was good lmao, I've never run into an issue with performance
I have the same specs but the differences are my AMD being 7000 series and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050
Also I've never ran into this issue before (it only happened with OptiFine
yeah not much came up online or in here about it
any ideas on troubleshooting?
Your only option would be upgrading to a new PC since some CPUs (or GPUs) may not be good even with Sodium and Iris
If that didn't help, then I don't know anything else in this case.
What's your sodium and Iris version?
everything is latest
I made the modpack and everything today so
Then what's your MC version?
1.21.5
that makes sense, what a shame
I'd also recommend Lithium for server side performance and Starlight for lighting performance. Tested all and it worked fine
I'm currently using Lithium but I'll definitely check out Starlight
thank you!
I forgot to ask something
What is your mod loader?
fabric
I think it's the memory usage that's causing the problem, because it could be too high. Try FerriteCore or Saturn. It reduces memory usage.
I'm not too sure how those work. Would I be able to just move my fabric mods to those loaders or do I have to redownload them all?
Like I said, it reduces memory usage. You don't need to move or redownload
Oh are they mods?
yes
they are mods
CurseForge
Saturn
A performance mod designed to optimize Minecraft's memory usage.
30.7M Downloads | Mods
Both mods paired will reduce A LOT of memory usage
here is proof

While it's still a lot, it's more optimized
If on fabric then ModernFix and FerriteCore can help
neither are available for 1.21.5 on fabric so I'm just going to install them both on the latest I can get
saturn isn't available for fabric at all
yeah uh FerriteCore isn't working either
