hanger recommendations

Before mindless purchasing more of the basic wooden Ikea hangers, I thought I'd see if people have opinions about what to use to store clothes in closets. Subquestion is whether to use clip or crossbar style hangers for pants, or when to use each, and if there are recs for those.

I just recently changed out all my plastic hangers for wooden ones (I went with some amazon things that wirecutter mentioned), I noticed my plastic hangers were leaving some creases in some stiffer fabrics that I wanted to see if I could avoid. downside is that wooden hangers for sure take up more space. they also do "feel" nicer in that way that wood does but that's probably just a brain thing, but it do spark joy. this works for most things but I do kinda wonder about my bigger, larger outerwear like my trench, and whether they'd be better suited by one of the super chonky plastic ones, but undecided on that. for pants I pretty universally fold over crossbar hangers, either fold in half by the button so the legs meet if there's no crease, or flatten sideways and fold the button slightly inward to try and keep a crease alive. curious about others' thoughts on it for sure, i'm just kinda making it up as I go along on most things, but especially am for this in particular xd I realized I can hang my pants slightly differently to keep a crease alive a bit better like 3 weeks ago

I really love clip wooden pants hangers for all but dress trousers. And generally, wooden hangers just feel better - space be damned. And for me on outerwear a big chonking wooden hanger is a must to keep the shape. This is definitely over kill but I was given an expensive set of Nakata hangars that rock.

Seconding chunky wooden hangers for coats and suits I have cheap ikea/Amazon wood hangers for most basics and just hang trousers around the rod I do have a few nicer hangers for shirts that I care more about holding shape. Esp for me if the shoulders are wider than a traditional hanger, or my partners shirts whose shoulders are narrower than a typical hanger Got them here

I don't use any plastic purely because I don't like the way it looks or feels, but couldn't tell you if it makes a difference for the clothing I think as long as you're not using wire hangers you should be okay

Kirby Allison makes good hangers. Can’t go wrong with them. (Although his marketing makes me feel 40 years older than I am.)

I put my casual pants on single hooks these days. It’s just easier to see everything. Everything else goes on wooden. Most tops are folded.
