Civilization VI - unable to press "continue"

Hello there!
I was trying to play Civ VI on my mac through heroic, but unfortunately have run into an issue after the intro, in which the continue button cannot be pressed. It also doesn't highlight at all; as if it just isn't detecting the cursor over it.
Apparently this problem has occured for others (not through heroic), and has something to do with the resolution of the game differeing from the mac's... so I tried changing the App options text file in the install location to the native res of my macbook. When that didn't work, I changed my macbook's aspect ratio to 16:9 and then edited the file to the same + set it to launch in windowed mode.
This also didn't fix anything, and I was hoping someone else could shine some light on how I might fix the problem! Something I need to change with wine's settings, maybe? I'm not entirely sure how exactly wine works; still reading about it.
