If you can't get the book, I recommend reading a summary of it, it's not long, and it's pretty entertaining. The story itself takes in a communist totalitarian nation, with not a single right to freedom. Every single person is being spied on 24/7. Not just by cameras and hidden microphones. Spies, helicopters taking footage of everybody's actions, even some children secretly spy. And this says a lot about our future. These days companies track you with everything. The book is similar to what is happening now, it's just that it isn't the government who spies on everybody, but companies. I do not intend this thread to turn into a political discussion, and if you wish then don't take it too far, I just wish to show you all the irony behind how everything is turning exactly like in the book.

I remember visiting my grandma and watching a Charlie Chaplin movie with her. I brought my phone, but ti wasn't connected to the internet since my grandma doesn't have it. When I went back home I went on youtube and saw that same movie in my recommended. I still think about that.

I remember in 2019 we were listening to Faith No More's Epic in the car. I didn't know the song at the time so I asked my dad what it was called but by the time we got home I had forgotten again. Then in my YouTube recommendation I see a familiar band. It was Epic by Faith No More.
There was no way in hell Google knew I was listening to Epic, I didn't have a phone (still don't) or anything that could track me. It had to be a coincidence.

False. The government can get your data from your ISP whenever they want and the NSA has programs like xkeyscore for tracking what everyone does on the web and will flag you for searching for things like Tor and Tails.
Not just is the government spying on you, but so are big tech companies. Google not only knows what you search and watch, but most likely can see your messages, look through your photos and worse. Same with Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon...
