Soundblaster X4 USB audio card not recognized

I recently installed Bazzite 42 (Gnome) on a minisforum AMD based PC - super smooth and easy install! I want to hook up an ancient surround sound system, I did some very cursory research and it seemed like the Soundblaster X4 USB sound card should work. However, when I hook it up, it lights up but doesn't seem to be recognzied by the system. I've tried plugging it into a USB-C and a USB-A port, and tried rebooting with it already plugged into each port, it never shows up.

I am able to connect it to a Windows PC and it is detected, I downloaded the driver from Creative and confirmed it has the latest firmware and seems to be working normally.

I have run dmesg -w while plugging in/unplugging it, no messages show up to indicate it is detected. lsusb doesn't show anything while it's plugged in, either. Any ideas or help will be appreciated!
Solution
apparently the issue was that it wouldn't be detected as a sound device until I had plugged in speakers. It worked fine with headphones only in windows, but once I hooked up the surround speakers to the rear ports, it started working perfectly with surround working and even is able to take the digital spdif out from my windows machine and play it.
