It was financially unviable-- with the evolution of bots came the more money Roblox would lose because of tix
People would bot thousands of fake accounts, buy an item or play a game to get hundreds of thousands of tix, convert that tix to robux, then devex the funds. Doing so got botters thousands of dollars and if it continued it could put a serious dent in Roblox's finances. On paper it looks like a money grab but when you look closer into it there really wasn't a way for Roblox to keep this system without losing massive amounts of money.
In my opinion, DevEx and Tix couldn't exist at the same time and one had to go. To make an actual incentive for people to develop high quality games they stuck with DevEx.

They were farmed by alternate accounts since you can get them daily, without that being removed a lot of stuff would be lesser valuable and not many people would use Robux.

they were removed due to mass place visit botting, which could falsely make the owner rich.
