Is Self-Hosting Supabase Only Worth It on Larger Projects or Instances?
I’ve been considering self-hosting Supabase for an upcoming project, but I came across a point that self-hosting only really makes sense when you're dealing with larger instances or projects — basically when the official Supabase pricing starts to jump significantly.
Is this actually true in practice?
For smaller-scale apps or early-stage projects, is it more cost-effective and manageable to just stick with the hosted Supabase offering? Or are there specific advantages (beyond cost) to self-hosting even for smaller deployments?
Would love to hear from anyone who has gone the self-hosted route — especially in terms of TCO, maintenance effort, and when the switch actually made sense for you.
