well if a side is defined as two lines touching each other and a circle is one continuous line, then it would have 0 sides

It depends on the terminology for me. If we're talking about sides then it's 0. If we're talking about lines then it's 1.

The answer depends on the definition of the word "side". The word should be reserved for polygons, which a circle is not.

let me throw a twist on this.
the circle is -meaning it has by definition 2 faces. if you consider each side a face, then a circle has 2 sides.
however a would have undefined faces/lines. making it truly side-less.
