We take the amount of workers you have per day in your billing cycle and then average that out. So, in a basic example over 5 days, you may have: 3 workers, 5 workers, 4 workers, 8 workers and 10 workers. For this 5 day billing period you'd be charged for 6 workers (as that's the average throughout the period) Make sure to cleanup any workers you do not need in order to keep your billing low.

I think better documentation is needed here. This isn't clear at all. What constitutes a "worker per day"? What if I have a worker that only lives for a few minutes or hours (<1 day)?
