Equip the pet
Click or press on your farm
If you have too many pets, pick one up by opening the sidebar, selecting the pet you want to pick up, and press that button.
After that, equip the mantis and click on your farm.
It will then move around and use its ability every now and again in random areas.
For best results, clump your best plants together.
