nanos with No-solder headers falling out and DOA nice!views

Hi all. I have ordered and built the wireless corne with the no-solder headers and i currently have a problem where the mcu (along with the niceview) pops out when plugging out the usb c cable. The corne wireless itelfs is exceptional, except for the bluetooth range (and that one niceview was dead on arrival and the other has a fat line that cover a third of the screen.). Its kind of an inconvenience since i have to travel alot and the current alternative is to just keep off the mcu cover so that i can hold it down when unplugging. Does anyone have a recommendation on how i could fixate them without soldering? I'm totally fine if its a hacky solution like holding them down with rubber band or something. I have four other cornes (all wired) and am exremely happy with them all. Apart from the niceviews and the cumbersome mcu's that fall out im very happy! Regarding the DOA and semi-working niceviews, i think i cant recommend them with the no solder headers since they keep falling off and are generally not secured enough to carry them around. I have contacted support to maybe get replacement niceviews but i'm thinking about asking for a refund instead since both niceviews are currently useless. Or at least get only one and keep in the peripheral side to see the battery while checking the other side's battery from my OS. Thanks in advance to anyone that can recommend something!

Hi! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your nice!nano and nice!views, especially with your travel needs. For the nice!nano and nice!view coming loose with no-solder headers: These headers are designed for easy insertion and removal. While convenient for troubleshooting, they may not provide the firmest hold for frequent travel. Our documentation for nice!nano installation mentions that for a more secure connection, soldering (EZ-Solder Hotswap or Mill-Max) is recommended. If you prefer to avoid soldering, ensure the nice!nano and nice!view are pushed firmly into the headers until the pins are slightly peeking out and the plastic is flush with the PCB. Regarding your defective nice!views, please continue to communicate with us via email at hello@typeractive.xyz for assistance with replacements or refunds. We'll be happy to help you there. For the Bluetooth range, you can try increasing the transmit power and disabling 2M PHY in your ZMK .conf file. You can find more details on this in our troubleshooting guide: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/poor-range Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance by replying to this message!

Thanks, i have already contacted support regarding the niceviews and waiting on a response but its Sunday here in Switzerland. Yes, soldering is not an option. @Nicell I have read in other posts that you use the no-solder yourself and have gotten used to disconnecting the usb carefully. Do you have a suggestion? Maybe keep the Display covers on but wedge something between the cover and mcu that's not conductive?

I've never had a sufficient answer on this, after years of ownership I just accept that they're busted and occasionally make a post hoping for a real response.

Thanks for your input. Let's see what support says. Ive already accepted the fact that i wont be using screens and just charge them both once a week. Also, to prevent the parts from popping out, i have ordered a couple of magnetic usb c cables. Ill try leaving the usb (male) plugged in and just connect the cable via tha magnetic thing https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/lmp-usb30-c-c-charging-cable-18m-180-m-usb-20-usb-cables-8216055?utm_campaign=organicshopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=406802&supplier=406802&gQT=0 I have ordered a couple of these to try out. I'll return with feedback

Those have a potential to short electronics. I especially wouldn’t want to use them with something like a corne.

first time i heard about this problem tbh 🤔 i'll keep an eye out, thanks for the tip @bep! Worst things worse, if the corne were to break i just hang it up on the wall since i've decided to get another BT corne (prebuilt) from another vendor. The jankyness of the no-solder headers and the DOA nice!views kinda put a sour taste in my mouth. I'll just count my losses and use it as an organ donor. I have five other cornes anyways, so 🤷‍♂️

Expensive hobby what can i say🥲 I also have a zsa voyager (which has been in my closet for ages since u only use cornes lol) and a Lotus58 for home use

Yeah I went from moonlander to corne. For a company selling ergonomic keyboards, zsa really hates ergonomics

Was about to say the same thing.
