A PLACE IN THE SUN: GREECE
Created this thread for everything A Place in the Sun related - currently working on the layouts, curating, editing photos and the trailer. Everyone has sent in their photos, just waiting for the developing lab to send me the film scans and then I'd have all the material.
This is the series' first foray into video, which is something I've wanted to try out for a while. Some teaser trailers that I've already dropped: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/59sXPyEBXq4 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/miJgcFuPFag https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vH-aVr-fECc Substack behind the scenes article (drops 6pm gmt+1!): https://open.substack.com/pub/christiangrech/p/the-making-of-a-place-in-the-sun?r=3680fc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Really amazing stuff man, such a well curated vibe
So well done, @malti! Not only is this fantastic summer/resort-wear inspo, but it’s also a master class in how sense of place and non-clothing images can influence and inspire style. Color, texture, proportion, emotion, seasonality, and sentimentality come together here to produce a complete vision and vibe!
this is what the series is all about - the dialogue that clothes can have with physical space
i think it's very fascinating... i like that everyone brings their interpretation of this to the table as well, it's part of the fun
Fantastic. I lived in Cyprus from the ages of 5-10 so this all looks very familiar to me
bro u make me believe in retirement

why wait until retirement when you can live this now
Hi Malti,
In your article, you wrote: “Although I live on a Mediterranean island where this lifestyle is very much possible, this is not my actual life (I wish it was).”
I found that line really interesting and wanted to understand more what exactly did you mean by that? Is it that you’re not able to dress this way in your day-to-day life, maybe because of work?
Also, I wanted to say how inspiring your albums have been. They’ve really helped me understand what dressing well is all about. I wasn’t very aware of these things before, and I’m still learning how to find and build my own style so your content has been a huge help!
That quote more refers to the fact that the styling in these editorials tends to be a bit over the top than what I would typically wear day to day
I wear all of these pieces in my daily life - but perhaps not in the combinations you’d see in the editorials. The first one (French riviera) had me style a white silk tuxedo in 2 different ways - I haven’t really worn it as a full suit since, because the occasions and opportunities in my life haven’t called for something like that (yet)
The series is heavily inspired by people that Dylan Don and Slim Aarons would photograph - these are usually celebrities, Hollywood elite, moguls, etc. I am none of these. So that’s why in a sense, these projects are a bit of an escape - it’s almost as if I’m entertaining the thought of what it might be to live a life like this
And to add to that - my job allows me a lot of freedom in how I dress. It’s not corporate at all, so I can get away with a lot of stuff that would get weird looks in typical offices
I still wear jeans and a tee when going on a construction site, but in the office or if I’m meeting clients I like to dress as… me. I wouldn’t like a job that I had to play as another character with a different wardrobe
Case in point, this is literally what I was wearing today to present to clients

I’m here for the photography, fits, and scenery. Great job as always!
Love how you keep it real but still bring the vibe
Always keepin it real
@malti my bro, just noticed the main how to dress for summer inspo album isn’t opening for me. Has it been moved or taken down? Was one of my favorites, so thought I’d check
i didnt move anything
Yes, it says the requested page could not be found. It feels like I’ve lost a someone 🫣
very strange, it works for me logged in but when i check in an incognito tab i get the same error you're getting
