This manga tells the intricate story of an uke who sacrifices himself for his twin sister (or younger/older sister and not twin), only to find love, heartbreak, and a new destiny. The story begins with the uke (who likely had yellow hair as a human) taking his twin sister's place in a family tradition. His sister was destined to be engaged to a powerful demon or god, but the uke steps in to spare her, especially since she has a boyfriend. He ventures to the demon's shrine, located on a hill with many steps, reminiscent of Kagome's shrine. The demon (seme), who lives with a short, gender-neutral minion, is revealed to be gay. His first true love was a dark-skinned man whom he deeply mourned. After this lover's death, the demon chained him to a bridge in the afterlife, desperately trying to find a way to bring him back. Upon meeting, the uke and the demon become intimately involved, and the uke falls deeply in love. However, their happiness is short-lived. Another demon or god offers the seme a terrible choice: sacrifice the uke to revive his original male lover. The seme chooses his past love, and the uke is brutally tortured before vanishing. Years pass. The uke, now with brown hair, has been reborn or transformed into the demon/god of a lake. Meanwhile, the God of the Underworld, who had secretly fallen for the uke when he was human and with the seme, begins searching for him. The seme's resurrected original lover, however, is slowly fading, becoming a lifeless doll, constantly falling asleep. The seme, despite having his love back, starts to miss the uke.
