My port/board aren’t being recognized? Arduino not in device manager

I was trying to set up my Arduino for my class, I went through the install process and allowed the drivers, but when i plug in the device it isn’t recognized and I can’t find anything in device manager. I really need to get this done today I’m very nervous.

Not shown in the image, but the orange LED is blinking on and off intermittently. I seriously hope this thing didn't come in broken because I don't have the time in this class to wait on it

the one going into the board itself? I could try it again, I got very angry because of the possibility of the board being broken and so i put the components away and put the board somewhere it won’t be damaged, but I will return to it in a moment when i calm down I seriously would also hope that my laptop didn’t somehow short the board

Doubtful. Open your device manager on your pc with the board conected and see if it shows up in the device manager. Unplugging the board should re.ove it an reconnecting it should refresh with the board listed.
