Constant High Ping at Random Times
I've noticed that when streaming sometimes I get these crazy high ping spikes in Val, even though I check my internet and it looks fine. It seems to happen at weird intervals….sometimes happening half way through a match where I'm doing well, and other times where it starts immediately at the beginning of a round. But usually by the next game its back to normal.
To give you an idea of my setup, I occasionally stream/record using a dual PC setup with a capture card. My main system (for gaming) has Valorant and Riot Vanguard installed, but my laptop (streaming/recording pc) also has both the game and anti-cheat installed on it as well. I have it installed on both machines in case I'm ever traveling and I want to play on my laptop.
But I was curious.....could running the Vanguard on both machines at the same time cause issues like this? I would think this wouldn't be an issue as it would allow Vanguard to see that no 'extra' software is running on either machine. But now that I've thought about it, I'm curious if this might be partly why this keeps happening because I have stopped using my laptop over the past week and have not run into this issue since.

can you open cmd and do
ipconfig
and show an ss of the part that says default gatewayI can once Im home. Sorry....I asked this while at work so I dont have the computer in front of me right now. Will still be about 3 hours
that’s fine
As a follow up, would both PCs need to be on?
na just the main one
that is just to get your routers local ip
so we can ping it
and u on wireless or wired?
Gotcha
Currently on wireless only because I get about 250gb more than having it wired for some reason. Might be a driver issue with my mb but Im looking into that.
now do
ping 192.168.0.1 -n 100
and have val open and send a screenshot of the summary when its done running
will take abt 2mindoes this happen only when you are streaming or also when you’re playing normally?
I seem to notice it happening more when streaming.
The router is not dual band
what are your speeds?
That is why I was wondering if maybe the two instances of Vanguard might have something to do with it. I guess I could test a stream and turn vanguard off on the streaming pc to see if it happens, but its so sporatic I never know when it will hit
having two instances of Vanguard shouldn’t be the issue im assuming that when you’re streaming your network might get overloaded but im not sure
best to run
ping 192.168.0.1 -t
while streaming valorant and when the ping spikes happen you press ctrl + c and show the summaryYeah I may need to invest in a dual band and run each on its own band. That just sucks because I literally just bought this router maybe 4 months ago.
Ill try that the next time I stream.
Sounds perfect!
At least I know vanguard isnt the problem so I can rule it out
id say using eth is worth it at least trying it out
Yeah Ill play with it some more. Thank you for your help
