Can someone explain what “shirt pant” means?

I’ve seen this term bandied about to describe mediocre fits. I’m at a loss because almost all menswear is shirts and pants (and other stuff). Are they talking about a lack of styling? A lack of accessories? Boring shirts paired with boring pants? All three?

could be all three just a way of saying the fits lacking a bit of visual interest you’re just wearing a shirt with some pants, not much thought past that

i feel like people usually will mention how to make the fit less mediocre when saying this or if you're a poster having this as a thread title in waywt recently, then its a reference to having to dress in the middle of a heatwave when you typically prefer layering

sometimes i’ll say it just because im wearing a shirt and pants like there are people who post waywt most days and wear shirt pant shoes and it’s great imo it’s not inherently negative

also might be worth seeing what visual correlation can you draw between the fits labeled as "shirt pants (shoes)" that are mediocre

To me, this describes Ye Olde MFA Uniform I think this is what gets to me about it. I live in a hot climate, so for 9 months out of the year, layering is not really an option.
