What shirts make me look my age?

I’m 22 and I love wearing shirts. Button down, button up, I’m all buttoned in. The problem is that they make me look dressy, classy and old. What shirts make me look my age? What helps keep me grounded in terms of print, look, pattern and colours? I’ve included a picture of a shirt I recently got, I also have it in green stripes.

Hi @Hyort! The best way to get a good answer is to ask a great question.

Please consider including:

Reference pictures of things you like or are looking for. The more the better!
Pictures of you wearing things if you have fit questions.
A specific budget in numbers. “Affordable" means different things to different people.
Specific measurements: Chest and waist are far more useful than height and weight.
Measurements of your favourite fitting clothing. Learning these measurements will go a long way in helping you shop online and secondhand!
Whether you're happy to buy secondhand.
Whether you prefer to buy in person or are open to shopping online.
Your vague location, especially if that limits your options because of customs or access to stores. A country or continent is helpful.
Timescales: Do you need something urgently, or can you wait for the right thing at the right price?

i dont think this shirt makes you look old or that this is as big a consideration as you might think it is

maybe look for shirts you like in fits/cuts similar to what you see your peers wearing (you dont mention cut so Im assuming you are not thinking of this already)

If you don't want to look "dressy, classy and old" why are you buying these items? Or have you made some connections between these three things [dressy, classy, old] and your clothing choices and/or aspirations that either aren't that helpful or necessarily true?

i wouldnt say the pictured look u gave is 'classy'.........anyway its all about styling. plenty of ways to do this look.

what does a 22 year old even look like anyway? i get the fear of social exclusion but also you're an adult and can choose to not engage with people who want to dunk on you because you're wearing clothes you like

i think it’s the slim cut of the shirt and the second button being buttoned that are reading as stuffy, along with a stiff collar like that . but as carrion said it could still be styled differently
