Pi 5 & RatOS

Are there any plans for releasing RatOS for the Pi 5 any time soon?

No, it would require a large rewrite for the new OS that runs on the 5

Are you referring to Mainsail? I believe they just release a version for the 5.

I've been using klipper/mainsail etc on a pi5 for over a year. It's probably not that and related to ratos

Cool. How do you like it?

It works great i have a few other things running at the same time, because the pi 5 has a lot more power than needed for klipper. At the beginning the picam wasn't supported, which i didn't know at the time so i choose a usb cam, which works great. I've had a few connectivity problems, where the pi becomes unresponsive for some time, but with updates and disabeling the save power option I have them rarely. It's awesome how fast a shaketune graph can be generated. They write it can take a few minutes, but i get them in seconds. In general the pi5 is overkill but at the time it was the same price as the 4, so i choose the pi5

Nice. Now that mainsail has it it is surprising that they're not going to have RatOS configured for it soon.

Well it's running well on the pi4 and it still has more than enough power. I assume they want to focus on more important things

True - just figured all the work has been done for it.

You figure wrong. This has been discussed several times in #ratos-development - TL;DR version is there are a lot of other more important updates for a single developer (Mikel) to do first
