This fit needs help
Hey, friends! I'd appreciate your advice for improving this outfit, and maybe your critique of my critique of it as well.
I'm a monochromatic black + grey type of guy, but I try to be adventurous and add colors here and there. Today I challenged myself to make an outfit out of things I haven't worn before (exceptions: hat, shoes, belt; and technically I think I've used that bag, like, twice before). This attempt didn't go well, IMO, but it was a fun exercise.
In the photos I can see that the gauze overshirt looks almost purple in the (overcast) sunlight, whereas it appeared neutral grey in the light of my apartment. As a result, I don't think it works with the bag and bracelet. I'm not sure it works with the jeans either, honestly.
The black tank was a "I guess this'll do" decision. Its neckline certainly isn't doing anything interesting where it's blending perfectly into the overshirt's collar. I'd want to swap the tank out for something with more texture and a different neckline. And maybe add a dangly necklace?
Jeans dragged just a little, not enough to get (noticeably) caught under my heels as I walked. Would you recommend I get them hemmed?
Should there be more contrast between the shirts, or less contrast between the shirts and pants? Or is the dark upper/light lower thing going on here acceptable?
I could adjust how my sleeves are rolled up so they're not aligned with my belt. Should I swap out the belt for one with some color?
What bag color(s) might've been a better choice (other than black, my beloved)?
Honestly, any help you could throw my way would be amazing. Thank you!
