Long(ish) Wool or Cashmere Coat

Hey all! I was wondering if any of you has recommendations on whether I can buy a good quality wool or cashmere (or blend between the two) men's coat that is on the longer side (a bit bellow the knee, for example)? For now I like this style a lot: https://shop.brunellocucinelli.com/en-bg/men/ready-to-wear/coats-jackets/cashmere-vicuna-beaver-cloth-coat-251MQ4119136CNJ65.html... but the price is diabolical haha. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Iamnotroot! The best way to get a good answer is to ask a great question. Please consider including: - Reference pictures of things you like or are looking for. The more the better! - Pictures of you wearing things if you have fit questions. - A specific budget in numbers. “Affordable" means different things to different people. - Specific measurements: Chest and waist are far more useful than height and weight. - Measurements of your favourite fitting clothing. Learning these measurements will go a long way in helping you shop online and secondhand! - Whether you're happy to buy secondhand. - Whether you prefer to buy in person or are open to shopping online. - Your vague location, especially if that limits your options because of customs or access to stores. A country or continent is helpful. - Timescales: Do you need something urgently, or can you wait for the right thing at the right price? Also, please use the search function to see if a similar question has already been asked!

Ah, I was hoping to skip the 2nd hand route (not because of vanity or anything, just cannot trust they have cared for the coat properly). Private white VC and Burberry were inital options but they don't have long options that are single-breasted hah

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of well cared for coats second hand that coat pennies compared to retail. Wool coats also aren't that delicate tbqh.

They probably did at some point between 1950-2015 and those will show on eBay. The reason you should check eBay is not just to save money (which you will), but also because this style of jacket is one of the most likely to be resold after having been worn 3.25 times so it's basically new Also what 🚁 said If you're worried about the state if your coat, filter for "accepts returns" and be sure to dry clean

perhaps you could have specified you wanted single breasted, new and within a specific budget…….

That's a good idea. Guess I will go and check around Ebay for some good deals. 😄 Thanks a lot! Good point, sry! Single breasted, I prefer new (but a good Ebay find might also do, given that other recomend it). Budget is around 1000-1500 EUR.

You might have a bit fewer options right now in peak summer. I’m sure PWVC will have something come fall. I liked Wythes past offerings a lot too, if you like something more rustic/tweedy. but I will throw a coin for the eBay option. There’s a lot of good quality stuff there (though often musty and may need a round or two of dry cleaning and some airing out). Here’s the first random coat from a saved search I have https://ebay.us/m/kSBiHB
