cifs: command not found

His everyone, i am trying to utilize cifs to automatically mount a network share, but terminal is sending "bash: cifs: command not found" I attempted to install it using rpm-ostree but it says that it is already provided by an installed package. Checking /proc/filesystems confirms that it is not there. I can't find anything on google about this, other than some forum posts saying that they were using cifs to auto mount a drive. and i can access my network share from the gui, it does say it is a cifs filesystem.

I have also used rpm-ostree to uninstall the package, but it was reinstalled on restart and the behavior is the same.

I have a feeling that i am missing something very obvious, but i am hoping that some wizard out there may be able to shine some light on this for me.
