footwear (maybe loafers?) for semi-formal wedding, as a guest
I'll be going to a wedding as a guest and the attire is semi-formal. I plan on wearing a blue suit, but I'm not sure what to do for footwear.
I don't currently have a pair of black dress shoes and I also don't dress up much for work, so I was considering loafers, since I'd at least be able to wear the loafers to work.
Would loafers work for semi-formal wedding attire? Am I out of my mind for thinking about something like this Alden dark brown suede penny loafer? Is that too casual to wear with a suit?

Hi @Display Error! The best way to get a good answer is to ask a great question.
Please consider including:
- Reference pictures of things you like or are looking for. The more the better!
- Pictures of you wearing things if you have fit questions.
- A specific budget in numbers. “Affordable" means different things to different people.
- Specific measurements: Chest and waist are far more useful than height and weight.
- Measurements of your favourite fitting clothing. Learning these measurements will go a long way in helping you shop online and secondhand!
- Whether you're happy to buy secondhand.
- Whether you prefer to buy in person or are open to shopping online.
- Your vague location, especially if that limits your options because of customs or access to stores. A country or continent is helpful.
- Timescales: Do you need something urgently, or can you wait for the right thing at the right price?

brown loafers + blue suit is perfect
very tried and true combo
suede is a little more casual, but pairs really nicely with a suit that has some texture like linen or wool
but like,,,, every wedding has a handful of old people wearing random blazers with jeans and sneakers so don't sweat this too much big dog just have fun
@Display Error here’s a fit with those loafers and a navy suit
