Running Steam and CS2 via Heroic on external ssd

I am trying to install Counter Strike 2 and other windows games on my external ssd in heroic launcher.. but i am facing issues while installing steam. 1. its showing- unexpected checksum of downloaded file while i was instaling wine mono (which it said was necessary. 2. I wanna store as much of it in an external drive as possible, as i am running very low on internal storage.. 3. Also can anyone help me out with installing Counter Strike 2, what are the wine requirements, wine prefixes and game arguements to have smooth gaming on Mac Book Pro M2 with 8gb ram. I am new to thesse kinda things so i need help asap.. thx

also, When I launch steam through heroic, it says it is playing. But the steam app doesnt show up. Is this how it is for you when steam wont start?

Have you tried installing steam, then telling stream to store you games in the external drive?

Just tested and found a solution or a work around. I had created a stream library from the mac version of steam on an external drive. In the heroic version of steam (windows) I used settings / storage, to point stream at my external volume, it seem to recognise the Library but was not adding games to it, until I try the option to repair libabry, once I did that the library was recognised and steam offered me the choice when downloading a game to use the local or other drive (see screenshot).

in terms of cs2’s requirements, it should run on gptk but I’ve heard some pretty variable judgements on how well it runs, your mileage may vary essentially

I notice that you have Msync and Esync ticked, people have reported issues with these active, mainly downloading games, also AVX is not really needed. Regardless neither should stop steam from starting. Also were did it ask you to install wine mono? As my install just gave me this window (see screen shot) and then just install and never asked me to install mono. I just click on the play button and it ran. What version of MacOS are you running? Have you tried Quiting and restarting Heroic, or rebooting you Mac?

I did try these.. and i set the installation path the same as yours (default one), but i faced the issues i stated earlier... However, i would still try the options you said and hope for the best...
