Without a custom hologram anything parented off of Conveyor attachments can snap "too a belt" But since there's no belt connections there it doesn't do anything but break the belt.
It's the same as that guy that wanted to stack them like cups....

it might have cause miner to turn the green arrow 90 degree out to left, on a miner mk1 from Industrial Evolution

but still, if you snap it to buildings it can be wrong as pictures above

turned of the snap on mod, it does still let me snap to belts, but not machines

Building onto belts is automatically supported if you inherit the hologram from a splitter holo

In 1.1, I had to change a bunch of stuff to fix CTD issues, and as Digby said, the current hologram is the same for splitter/merger. If Drew didn't intend to enable building onto belts, then I'll have to switch to a different hologram

yes, but it severs the belt connection, it's parented off of splitters.

They used foundations to stack them that way
Otherwise, they snap "into each other" at the same height as a vanilla splitter.
