system update in game mode
When will the ability to update the system in game mode return? Now steam tells me that there are no updates, and I have to go to TTY2 and enter the command "ujust update" there

you don't have to switch to another tty, just switch to desktop mode and open system update app
and idk about steam gaming mode updater, for some reason it's broken for me as well
wait, you didn't knew about desktop mode? it's literally in power menu
switching to desktop mode takes much longer than switching to TTY2
It, really takes like a minute
Its not a big issue :p
@Kyle Gospo wtf is this
Your guess is as good as mine
Just updated my HTPC yesterday
And my legion go this morning
That's both update types, worked fine
I generally have to do updates from within desktop mode too for whatever reason
I will say that in initial setup on steam gaming mode updater does the job, but after that it's just "no updates available" when clearly it's not the case, I have to switch to desktop mode
yeah
this morning i had an update prompt, so i pressed it, restarted, and then checked rpm-ostree and nothings changed
i then do ujust update, check rpm-ostree, and then i have an image
my steam deck is always out of date because of this lol
Oh yeah you said there was a update
I forgot about day lmao
switching to TTY2 with subsequent login and ↑ buttons with enter takes 15 seconds. To switch to desktop mode, I first need to close the game, go to the menu on the gamepad, press the power button, select the desktop mode, wait for KDE to load, open the "start" menu with the mouse and click on the update shortcut. All this takes from 30 seconds to a minute, if not more (if you take into account the time it takes to get to the save in the game)
Yes. And?
this problem with updates goes back to the ticket where I reported that updates in game mode are not downloaded because the update script instead of ujust update goes into the standard fedora update and does not find the executable script there (or at least that's how you explained it). Similar behavior was recorded not only by me. Then the ticket was closed with words that this is not a priority bug and it will be fixed a little later, when the team completely abandons the original method of updating the system. About half a year has passed, probably, and now Steam basically stopped seeing that there are any updates
Dude, I don't give a damn if you find a less convenient and comfortable way to update the system convenient and comfortable. You weren't the one who asked the original question, so I have no idea what you're doing here
None of this is true
No, everything I said is true
i don't think that's what the update script does
is what i think kyle meant
Yeah, I have no idea how it all works in the distribution. I haven't read the original code, and I'm not even an IT specialist to understand code. I just retold that ticket as I understood and remembered it. And now I want to know, is this bug being worked on? And in general, it is quite an interesting situation that in the atomic distribution everything works for some people, but not for others
