f3 shows shaderpack is "off" or disabled
when i look at f3 , it shows shaderpack is "off" but when i press k it becomes "disabled" and video settings look default either way

no i mean it redirected me to the link u sent before downloading "iris shaders"
so esentially i didnt need to download it right?
How is thing currently set up on your end?
You have the Iris mod installed, then you go to the video setting, select shader packs tab, and clicking on the "Shaders: Disabled" button?

The button at the very top. The "disabled" wording depends on whether or not you have any shader packs.
ye ik but i installed "iris shaders" so now im curious whats the point if before i could download shaders without "iris shaders"
With that said, you can click the Download Shaders button, that will lead you to the Modrinth page where you can download shader packs.

Shader packs don't work on their own.
They need Iris to load.

Unless that shader pack you downloaded is a vanilla shader pack, then I guess you do you.

If you were able to load shaders beforehand then you already had a shader loader like Iris installed :shrug:
Vanilla minecraft does not have the ability to load OptiFine/Iris shaderpacks
Hold on a sec, I just thought of something. Did they thought Optifine/Iris shader loading was vanilla feature?

optifine was automatically downloaded with my off-brand minecraft so i wasnt aware it was there before asking my question
