That last one isn’t in quotes I doubt that’s the issue though Still
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
does it have to be in quotes? afaik its only needed if there are spaces
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Wait why is the repo using http *impl
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it came like that ig
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
How did that happen Uh I need to fix that
lyn
lynOP5mo ago

Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Also that’s a read only mirror from our gitlab But GitHub has a CDN so we kept the GitHub URL Also remove docker @lyn Please This comes with postman *podman
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
alright
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
You don’t want both Trust me
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
why not
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Set DOCKER_HOST to your podman socket as explained in my guide
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
ive had issues in the past with podman and vscode devcontainers
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
They might conflict
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
though i think that was bc it was rootless
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Set DOCKER_HOST properly
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
aight
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Should be in here Using podman
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
tis downloading the arch tarball rn
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Peak It got stuck on extraction last time Or possibly something else
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
eventually we're going to find that this issue is caused by demons in my computer or something okay it's started extracting

We can’t cache the installed bits or that causes issues 🤞 I assume the daemon-reload thing worked Last time
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it didnt work last time (nothing seemed to happen) i rebooted my computer
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
And that installed windscribe Windsurf Whatever
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
windscribe was already on beforehand it worked first time then stopped working afterwards

Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Yeah doesn’t seem to work for everybody We don’t know why it’s happening
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
after i turn it off do i have to restart the update process?
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I think there’s a gitlab issue on this if not I’ll make one I meant turn it off and try the update Clean up manually if you’re going to ctrl+c
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
aight
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Maybe the VPN is a demon
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
okay, off it works wtf
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Huh We fixed a thing
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
alright so ill just turn off windscribe whenever i need to update
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
@autisumn new epic bug I don’t know what the fuck is going on Not marking as solved Maybe it’s with VPNs in general or just how windscribe does it I need to test
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
is installing like 800 packages normal
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I have a proton ovpn file It installs the whole OS builds a whole new system each time Only way this works
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
cursed
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
We tried overlaying but that broke things Arch issues OCI will fix it As in you would just do system install package Overlay the new files over the old ones That did not work at all Things broke really fast
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
😢 i am probably gonna go back to regular old arch
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I think you might like v5 :) But I get it
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
ty
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Still I’ll look into this
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
welp, wiping time
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I thought it could be related to that dig issue
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it's weird because this time while akshara update was hanging, dig worked perfectly fine (i was testing digging new domains)
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Strange
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
ignore the yay

Nooo
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
i might try arch with omarchy this time
Omarchy
Omarchy
An opinionated Hyprland + Arch setup
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Omarchy? Neat blendOS configs are deployable More so than nix Because tracks
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
yeah fuck nix 🔥 🔥 🔥
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
You can like make your own track repo Or something
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
eventually i need to learn how linux systems work, i've been putting off doing LFS for a while how did you become familiar with GNU/Linux system internals?
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Rudra did all the core OS work Mostly trial and error I came on later This was all his idea
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
system.yaml - blendOS
system.yaml config reference
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Also showcases my new kind of config reference I mean leaf uses it too
lyn

smh imagine being a blendos dev and not using blendos

Honestly It’s like medium and sub stack together I hate hosted blog platforms Before you say it’s powered by a crypto token there’s a server I’m reading this on and you don’t control it
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it's not powered by a crypto token it's just crypto integrated if i wanted to make it decentralised i would've written on fountain instead (on fountain, all the data's written to Lens and can be viewed by any Lens client)

You seem like the type to have a gemlog Cloudflare Pages blendOS.co is cloudflare pages too Not the gitlab or repo obviously
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
obliteration time
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Costs us nothing
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
It’s not AWS resold :sobmelt: Cloudflare uses their own network Cloudflare workers is so good vercel uses it on their backend
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
okay yeah true can't compete with cloudflare
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
In addition to AWS edge functions use workers
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
i didnt know this
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I don’t need any workers features so i use pages Vercel also sucks
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
yeah fuck vercel
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
They vendor locked nextJS In addition to charging a bunch for AWS and not notifying you of attacks Unless you have an enterprise plan then they tell you Cloudflare tells you for free Did you expect them to be able to build that themselves
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
i thought aws had their own edge
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
AWS just couldn’t compete ig Workers must have been better Maybe we’ll buy R2 and put ISOs on it
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
storj is better
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
But our current system works fine
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
Storj - Smarter cloud storage for your business.
Make the switch to Storj and get better global performance, unparalleled security, and save 80% on your cloud costs while cutting your carbon footprint.

lyn
lynOP5mo ago
mreow though now there's a minimum fee of $5/mo which sux
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Why is it better
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
cheaper
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Where’s my 10 GB free
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
they used to have 100GB free but sadly not anymore
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
R2 gives you 10 and a bunch of r/w operations With caching you can lower your usage Cloudflare’s proxy caching
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
storj is cheaper for larger scale ig, also from my experience with Outline, R2 isn't fully S3 compatible while storj seems to be
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
They’re working on improving that But yeah not fully It should support what we need Also why use outline when material for mkdocs Used internally at thousands of companies Powers blendOS.co
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
idk it was just on the coolify app list
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
You can host it on coolify
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
meow
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
It’s just Python mkdocs is Python The plugins are Python mkdocs-macros are Python (and allow Jinja2 in your markdown)
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
i might try that in a future project im gonna wipe laptop now ty

·𐑡𐑬𐑣𐑱
Isn't this how they were originally intended to be used? To prove ownership of something digital?
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
The thing is that’s pointless Nobody’s going to care about your little entry when I have Win+S And paying for images is the dumbest thing ever These aren’t even stock photos These are unwatermarked (usually bad) artworks that are hosted elsewhere If I mint the post I don’t get to download it I can do that for free I think it’s more of a donation system here But it has to be crypto bullshit Because And uh copyright law already says lyn owns that post Unless the Paragraph TOS says the company takes ownership of all content Wait @lyn does it cost money to post I notice there’s a gas fee or something on your post block Anyway @·𐑡𐑬𐑣𐑱 peak bug
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
no
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
So who pays the gas fee
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it's just donation paragraph pays for it it's cheap
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Generous How do they make money
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
idk they're probably VC funded
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Also makes it hard to do that yourself Post on the chain You should try Gemini
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
?
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I think it would suit you

I'm confused

lyn

there are too many Geminis
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Alternative to HTTP it’s just text
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
yea I've heard of it
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
And links and images But you can do scripting It’s got its own version of Reddit Which allows for user blogs In addition to existing gemlog hosts
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
I think this is a misunderstanding of what makes people buy NFTs vitalik wrote a post on this 1s
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Aren’t they investments Or rugpulled Well that’s an issue VC investors want a return
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
NFTs are a very big space
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I can prove my shit with PGP already
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
when you say "nft" it can refer to several different things in the end they're just records in a contract that implements the ERC-721 API there's the cultural-speculative NFTs like those ugly monkey pics or milady maker, there's ENS domains, there's fun collectibles, etc this one falls in the category of fun collectibles
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Why would I buy that
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
because it's fun
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
That’s like buying GIMP on the Microsoft store Just donate
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
not everything has to be hyperfinancial money EV optimization
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
And donation doesn’t require a million steps
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
some things can just be fun like POAPs which are NFTs that some events give out saying "I was here"
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
😭
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
????
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
“Guys check out my PNG saying I was here”
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
an nft doesn't need to be an image 😭
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
“I own it because blockchain” “Check out my text document”
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
an NFT, at its core, is a record on a contract that implements ERC-721 that's it
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Oh “Check out my blockchain record guys” “I was there it says so”
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
yeah
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
“It’s so valuable”
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
it's called fun
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Yeah it’s free Minus gas fees
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
😭 it's not hyperfinancialized it's just fun
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I just think it’s weird It would just collect digital dust
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
lmao true
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
Which is a text document In essence
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
nuh uh it's a record linking to possibly offchain metadata
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
That’s test *text
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
fine
Asterisk
Asterisk5mo ago
I meant it’s a line saying I was here Proved by the record
lyn
lynOP5mo ago
yea a poap is just a "I was here" record proof of attendance protocol some people pronounce it pope, poe-app, P-O-A-P
